Nigeria’s Bayelsa United played out a 0-0 draw with hosts AS Kondzo of Congo in the first leg first round tie of the Caf Champions League played on Friday evening.
The game played at the Stade Alphonse Massemba-Débat saw the hosts that edged Young Sports Academy of Cameroon in the preliminary round on away goal rule after aggregate score stood at 3-3 completely dominated the game but could not get past the resilient defence of the Nigerians.
Richard Bubagha’s men not minding the intimidating atmosphere of the Congolese supporters that thronged the stadium in their thousands held their nerves and were able to avoid defeat against the hosts noted for their robust attacking style of play.

Bayelsa United will be recalled almost could not make the trip to Congo due to financial constraints but a late rally by the club management ensured they landed in the central African nation with less than 10 hours to kick-off.
