Cote D’Ivoire name regular squad for 2013 Afcon
Most of the players who helped the Elephants to win silver at the 2012 Afcon will be on duty once more in South Africa next January
Cote D’Ivoire coach Sabri Lamouchi released his squad for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations on Thursday during a press conference in Abidjan, with most of the outfit’s regular players intact.
Anzhi Makhachkala striker Lacina Traore, who was called up to the set up recently, will be participating in his first official tournament with the team.
“I cannot promise anything ahead of the tournament but all I can say is that I have a healthy team and we’re ambitious to go as far as possible,” the French coach said.
The Elephants will round off preparations with a friendly match against Egypt in Abu Dhabi on January 14.
Cote D’Ivoire play their first match against Togo on January 22 in Rustenburg before facing Tunisia and Algeria in Group D.
