Morocco name Rachid Taoussi as new coach

The coach will also be in charge of the locally-based team for the African Nations Championships until a substantive one is announced
Morocco have named FAR Rabat manager Rachid Taoussi as the new coach of the Atlas Lions.

The former MAS Fez coach will be replacing Eric Gerets, who was sacked last week.

The Belgian was given the marching orders after a 2-0 defeat to Mozambique in the first leg of the final round qualifier for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

The second leg of the qualifier will be played in the northern African country on the weekend of 12-14 October, with the winner on aggregate will qualify for next year's Nations Cup in South Africa.

According to a BBC report, Taoussi, who led Moroccan MAS to the Confederation Cup title last season, will also coach the African Nations Championships (CHAN) team for locally-based players.
