thumbnail Hello,

The 32-year-old ex-Inter striker only joined the Curitiba club in January but his spell with the Furacao has been ended by mutual consent

Atletico Paranaense have announced that they have parted company with former Brazil international Adriano.

The 32-year-old striker, who has been plagued by fitness issues and off-the-pitch problems throughout his career, only joined the Curitiba club in January.

Adriano made his Furacao debut - and his first competitive appearance for any club in two years - when he came on for the final four minutes of the home win over Copa Libertadores rivals The Strongest in February.

The ex-Inter striker bagged his first Atletico goal in Tuesday's 2-1 away defeat to the Bolivian outfit but that loss not only spelled the end of Atletico's hopes of progressing to the knockout stages, but also Adriano's time at the Estadio Vila Capanema.

"The striker Adriano Leite Ribeiro is no longer part of the staff of Club Atletico Paranaense," a Furacao statement read.

"The decision was made by mutual agreement between player and club during a meeting that it had been previously agreed would take place at the end of CAP's participation in the Copa Libertadores.

"Atletico Paranaense would like to wish the player Adriano good luck in his upcoming projects."

It has been reported that Adriano, who had spoken of his desire to have a strong Basileiro Serie A season with Atletico after his strike against The Strongest, missed two training sessions following the club's Copa Libertadores elimination.
