Alex and Quaresma were mistreated in Turkey, claims Rustu

Former Besiktas goalkeeper Rustu Recber has slammed his ex-club and Fenerbahce for rescinding the deals of Ricardo Quaresma and Alex, respectively.

The Yellow Canaries decided to terminate the contract of the Brazilian in October, while the Portuguese was released by the Black Eagles in December, and the former Turkey international believes the clubs will live to regret these decisions.

"Both sides [Fenerbahce and Alex] have made mistakes. Alex had been a very helpful player for Fenerbahce," the 39-year-old told Milliyet Gazete.

"He should've seen the end of this season in Turkey. The timing was completely wrong. Aziz Yildirim's decision to terminate his contract has come out of anger and it was also wrong."

Regarding Quaresma's recent departure, the goalkeeper added: "If he [Quaresma] had played throughout the season, maybe Besiktas could be leaders now.

"I don't understand why he was sacrificed so suddenly. This is also a marketing mistake. They made him lost his value."

He then took the time to criticise Fenerbahce coach Aykut Kocaman's transfer policy, claiming that his big-name signings have not made much of a difference.

"His [Kocaman's] additions were a hit-and-miss. Dirk Kuyt, Mehmet Topal, Raul Meireles and Milos Krasic have all been insufficient for the team. That's a mistake on the one who made those transfers," he concluded.
