Football League Trophy Treble
|
| Cheltenham Town |
VS
|
Oxford United |
| Kick-off: 19:45GMT |
|
| Tip: Cheltenham to win at 6/5 (2.20) with Paddy Power |
These two sides met in League Two less than a month ago, when Cheltenham overcame their local rivals 2-1 to kick-start a run of five games without defeat.
Oxford United went into that match just ahead of The Robins in the table, but now find themselves trailing the in-form side by six points after slipping from first place to 17th in the space of a month.
Although the visitors have enjoyed a slight upturn in fortune thanks to four points from their last two home games, they have still lost their last five consecutive games on the road.
They will struggle to end that record against a confident home team, who were unlucky not to make it four wins in five when high-flying Fleetwood snatched a late equaliser at the weekend.
With Mark Yates only recently having demonstrated his ability to get the better of opposite number Chris Wilder, 6/5 (2.20) seem like fantastic odds for his side to come out on top again this evening.
| Portsmouth |
VS
|
Wycombe Wanderers |
| Kick off: 19:45 GMT |
|
| Tip: Over 2.5 Goals at 4/6 (1.67) with Paddy Power |
Portsmouth fans would dearly love to get off the roller coaster their club has put them through recently, but on the pitch the uncertainty has made for an interesting ride.
At the last count, 29 players have left Fratton Park since relegation from the Championship, to be replaced by 32 others on various trials and short-term contracts.
While this huge turnaround has clearly made it very difficult for Michael Appleton to organize his side into a cohesive unit defensively, additions such as Izale McLeod, Brian Howard and Akos Buzsaky give Pompey great quality going forwards at this level.
No surprise then, that the hosts have seen plenty of goals at both ends this season, with 42 being scored in their 13 competitive matches, and over 2.5 goals occuring in 11 of those.
With 17 goals scored in opponents Wycombe’s last five away matches, a bet on over 2.5 going in here seems secure, at odds of 4/6 (1.67).
| Leyton Orient |
VS
|
Barnet |
| Kick-off: 19:00 GMT |
|
| Leyton Orient to win at 1/2 (1.50) with Paddy Power |
Barnet currently sit at the foot of the Football League, having failed to win a single game so far this season and with nine defeats in 12 competitive matches.
Such a record does not suggest that Mark Robson will be steering his side to a cup upset when they visit League One’s Leyton Orient.
The O’s struggled against promotion favourites Sheffield United, Doncaster Rovers and Stevenage in a difficult start to the season, but have done well enough in their other games to see them lodged safely in mid-table after ten matches.
A 4-1 win against Yeovil and victory over Paulo Di Canio’s Swindon demonstrates the quality at Russell Slade’s disposal, and his side should have simply too much for their struggling visitors to cope with.
Expect Orient to justify their billing as heavy favourites here, with 1/2 (1.50) odds on offer for a home win.
