The 30-year-old has been undergoing physiotherapy with the Rubro-Negro's training complex with the aim of achieving sufficient fitness to be rewarded with a permanent deal.
Due to the intense scrutiny his progress was coming under, and after a number of missed sessions, the former Inter striker decided he would continue his work from home.
However, Flamengo remain unperturbed in their pursuit of the man who helped inspire them to their last Brasileirao triumph in 2009 and the club executive is keen to sit down with him.
"This week I will have a chat with Adriano. He is a player who is an icon of Flamengo. If he is ready, we can talk about a possible contract," Zinho told Radio CBN.
"I have a great affection for Adriano. I hope he recovers soon. He would be a really good name to help the club, like the coach Dorival Junior, but we will have to wait for a full recovery."
Adriano underwent surgery on his left Achilles tendon in April and has not featured in a competitive game since March.
