Ian Baraclough's men are unbeaten at Showgrounds this season and Willie Duncan expects them to maintain that record when Mick Ring's side visit on Sunday
Ian Baraclough’s men have been hugely impressive thus far, losing just one of their first 16 league fixtures to storm to the top of the league table, and they are considered as strong favourites to see off the challenge from Mick Ring’s Cork City outfit this weekend. Bookmaker Paddy Power chalk the Bit O’ Red up at 8/15 (1.53) to pick up all three points.
Sligo are unbeaten in the league at Showgrounds this term and Paddy Power go 5/1 (6.0) that City change that particular statistic with victory this weekend.
Meanwhile draw-backers will be tempted by the 11/4 (3.75) on offer from the same firm for the match to end all square.
Although they sit proudly at the top of the table, Sligo have often been slow starters this term and, indeed, 17 of their 26 goals have come after the half-time break this season.
Furthermore, nine of those goals came inside the final 15 minutes so Paddy Power’s 10/11 (1.91) quote for the opening goal to come after the 27th minute makes for considerable appeal here and offers great value.
Along a similar line, the juicy 16/5 (4.20) quote from the Irish bookmaker for the match to be level at half-time with Sligo winning the second half looks to represent a market which has been overpriced and therefore provides punters with a chance to capitalise.
Much of the credit for Sligo’s rise to the top of the division goes to Northern Irish striker Danny North, who has already netted an impressive 15 goals for his side this term and he can be backed at a tempting 3/1 (4.0) with Paddy Power to net the opening goal of the game.
North has landed as a first goalscorer on no fewer than eight occasions already this term and the 16/5 (4.20) for the on-song striker to add two or more to his tally here should not be dismissed without further consideration.
