It had been presumed that the Istanbul giants would once again be barred from competing in Europe because of their involvement in a match-fixing scandal
Fenerbahce announced that they have been cleared by Uefa and the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) to participate in next season's Champions League. It had been thought that Super Lig runners-up would be excluded from Europe's most elite club competition because of their involvement in a match-fixing scandal.
However, Fenerbahce revealed on their official website on Friday that they had been given the green light from Uefa's Control and Disciplinary Committee to take up their place in the third qualifying round of the Champions League.
The Istanbul outfit were prevented from competing in last season's tournament because of the match-fixing allegations levelled at club president Aziz Yildirim in the wake of their 2010-11 title-winning campaign.
Meanwhile, Bursaspor will be allowed to take part in the Europa League. The club had been hit with a one-year ban from European competition by Uefa after being found guilty of financial mismanagement.
However, Bursaspor appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, who quashed the ban and replaced it with a fine of €250,000.
