The young star turns 24 on Saturday, and will mark the occasion by starting up front for his country in a key qualifier
Argentina star Sergio Aguero is delighted to be representing his country on his birthday against Ecuador, as the Seleccion prepare for a key World Cup qualification clash. The Manchester City forward celebrates turning 24 on the same day his nation seek victory in the Estadio Monumental against their South American rivals.
The Albiceleste have picked up seven points in their four games to date, and would go top of the standings if they can better Uruguay's result versus Venezuela.
Speaking to Ole to mark his milestone, 'El Kun' revealed that he could not ask for a better gift than representing his nation in front of a sell-out home crowd.
"Playing for the Seleccion on my birthday is already a present in itself. But also, look at the coincidence: yesterday, chatting with a friend, I realised that it has also been 10 years since my first international appearance. Because in 2002 [Eduardo] Tojo picked me for the Under-15s. I was 14 then, now I turn 24 - so it is a double gift," the forward explained on Saturday morning.
"It is fantastic [that tickets sold out]. It gives me great joy and satisfaction. We know that we are indebted to the fans. We want to respond to that vote of confidence by giving the best we can."
Aguero made his debut for Argentina in 2006 aged just 18, and has gone on to score 14 times in 33 international appearances.
