The Port Harcourt ladies coach is excited after his side were crowned the Nigeria women top-flight winners after squeezing past over Nasarawa Amazons
Rivers Angels head coach Edwin Okon has expressed joy after his side were crowned the Nigeria Women Premier League champions for the third consecutive season on Saturday.
Okon ladies edged Nasarawa Amazons to the league title following a 5-3 victory on penalties at the Fifa Goal Project pitch, Abuja.
And the trainer says he is focussed on revamping his side for the new season after lifting his eighth title with the Port Harcourt ladies since joining them in 2009.
"I didn't expect so much, but at the end, I thank God for the victory," Okon told Goal.
"And I can say it is a deserved victory because we took our chances.
"I'm very happy keeping the trophy for the third time in a row. It is all for hard work, dedication, and prayer.
"For next season, I need to do a lot of things in all departments of the team.
"There are about 12 new players already that could not play because the match is the last of the [2015/2016] season.
"That’s because the competition [match] is for last season. But when I return home, I will see how I could marry the new ones with the few old players."
