A poor evening from the Spanish goalkeeper. At considerable fault for both goals, the custodian failed to produce the performance expected, especially at this level. Improved in the second half but not convincing.
Faced a side that he knows well following his time at Lille, and the France international fared decently against the Ligue 1 leaders. His brilliant goal gives Valencia hope for the return leg nonetheless.
One of the better Valencia players on the night, the Portuguese international’s crosses proved to be the only threat that the visitors had to deal with. His movement and passing at times was a joy to behold.

The Mexico international was deployed as left-back and initially struggled in the first half, with Lucas in particular giving him a headache. Improved as the game wore on as the hosts became more urgent, with his pace a real factor.
Parejo could not assert his authority on the game with the visitors' fluid attack pulling him out of position at times.
