The Akure Arsenal were superior in the clash of the two giants and have improved their position on the league table
Both sides played a 1-1 draw when the initial leg was played in Ilorin, but the Akure Arsenal raised the bar to ensure they scooped all the points this term.
All the four goals were scored in the first half. Sunshine Stars raced into the lead through Christian Josiah's brace in the 12th and 14th minutes while Alaba Adeniyi got the third in the 22nd minute. Stanley Dimgba pulled a goal back for the Afonja Warriors in the 33rd minute and both teams closed shop thereafter.
Despite the flurry of goals in the first half there was still another opportunity for Sunshine to add to their tally in the second half but they fluffed it from the penalty spot. Dele Olorundare who was released by Super Eagles coaches to play the all important match missed from the spot to the disappointment of the coaches and his fellow colleagues.
Sunshine have 31 points from 22 games with their latest win while Kwara United are still on 34 points.
