FULL-TIME! Tottenham pick up a well-earned 2-1 win at Sunderland after a coming from behind and putting in a decent display. In truth, the scoreline could have been far more impressive from Spurs' perspective, but they got the win and that's all they will care about. Thanks for joining me. I hope you have enjoyed the action.
90' + 4'
Spurs work a corner really well as Townsend and Paulinho link up, with the latter finding himself in a great position. Instead of shooting, however, he squares towards Defoe, but he is not expecting it and Sunderland hook it away.
90' + 1'
Five minutes of stoppage time had been added.
Big opportunity for Sunderland. Fletcher was lucky not to give a free-kick away in the Spurs area, but he almost made the most as he looked to pounce on a rebound following a good stop from Lloris, but Dawson smashes it away.
Yellow CardJozy Altidore
They effectively waste the opportunity, however. It is taken short and the attack ends as Giaccherini shoots from long range, but it is deflected out for a throw-in.
Good play by Borini as he wins a free-kick in a good central position about 35 yards from goal.
That should have been the match for Spurs. Townsend beat Larsson with ease on the left. He quickly crossed into the centre, but Paulinho could only head wide.
What a chance for Sunderland! They pump the ball into the area and Spurs fail to clear. It drops to Borini in the centre of the box, but his tame effort is straight at Lloris.
Defoe hits the frame of the goal again! Townsend gets forward down the left and crosses in towards the front post. Defoe charges across and flicks the ball goalwards, but it comes back of the top of the post.
Just a few moments after coming on, Sandro probably should have given away a penalty. The Brazilian clearly controlled the ball with his arm, but the referee failed to spot it.
Good try by Holtby as Lennon feeds him to the right. The German cuts inside and shoots with his favoured left foot, but Mannone keeps it out.
Here comes another Spurs change as Sandro replaces the limping Dembele. The Belgian was impressive today.
Excellent cross from Larsson in a deep position on the right and Fletcher meets it with a header on the edge of the area, but it goes just wide of Lloris' right-hand post.
Perhaps substitutions will help Sunderland. Borini and Cattermole are now on.
What a chance for Spurs! Holtby picks out Defoe's run with an exquisite pass through the middle, but the forward doesn't even hit the target from close-range.
Sunderland performed fairly well in the first half, but since half-time they have looked bereft of ideas, tired and suffering from a lack of desire. They don't look like getting anything from this at the moment.
Sunderland invite Lennon into the area and he obliges. He picks out Paulinho in the middle but he completely misses the ball. Another wonderful chance for the visitors.
Chadli is not closed down by the Sunderland defence and he opts to shoot from just outside the area, and although Mannone does make a mess of the save, he keeps it out nonetheless.
Walker releases Lennon into the right side of the area and the winger clips a cross into the six-yard box. Defoe bursts towards it and heads the ball on to the post.
Another Spurs chance goes begging! Again the ball is cut back to Holtby in the centre, this time from the right, but his shot from near the penalty spot is blocked in front of the goal.
Spurs are looking in complete control of this contest now. Sunderland are offering very little in terms of attacking intent or midfield solidity.
Vital interception from Johnson! Spurs carve open Sunderland at will and Chadli races into the left side of the area. He squares a low cross into the danger area for Holtby, who looks destined to score, but Johnson gets a toe to it.
Own GoalJohn O'Shea
GOAL!!! Spurs take the lead! Magnificent play from Dembele as he storms past Colback and passes low into the area, with John O'Shea diverting it past his own goalkeeper.
Johnson wastes the opportunity, however, as he hits the ball straight into the wall.
Good play by Colback as he races on to the ball around the outside of Dawson, before being hauled down. Free-kick on the right.
Spurs kick-off the second half.
45' + 2'
HALF-TIME! Sunderland took the lead through Johnson and looked set to go into the break with a lead, but Paulinho's effort just a few moments ago levelled things up as the match is left perfectly poised for the second half.
Lloris is a little unconvincing again as he palms down a long-range effort from Celustka. Larsson collects the loose ball and tries to cross, but Spurs defend the situation well.
GOAL!!! Spurs equalise with half-time looming! The free-kick found its way all the way over to the back post where Chadli was present to head it back into the danger area. Paulinho reacted quickest as he poked it into the net.
Good place to win a free-kick as Spurs get the chance to deliver from the right wing.
Yellow CardOndřej Čelůstka
Mannone shows Lloris how to do it as he catches Lennon's cross with ease.
GOAL!!! Sunderland take the lead against Spurs! Altidore does well to pick out Celustka on the right and the full-back is quick to fire a cross into the centre. Lloris tries to punch it clear, but make a real mess of it. The ball lands at the feet of Adam Johnson, who smashes home right-footed.
Lovely flowing move from Spurs. Dembele advances with the ball, plays a one-two, gets into the area and squares to Holtby, but the German's eventual shot is blocked well.
Defoe charges towards the area and races towards the right side before shooting, but his effort is blocked and they have to settle for a corner.
Finally, a Tottenham corner creates a chance as Capoue connects with a header, but it is straight at Mannone.
Brilliant pace from Lennon as he zips past Ki down the right. He cuts an inviting pass back towards the penalty spot, but Sunderland luckily clear it away.
Defoe does well to find himself some space just outside the hosts' area. He manages to get a left-footed shot away, but it trickles comfortably past Mannone's left post.
Altidore charges on to a long pass down the left wing. Walker gives him a bit of a nudge and the American goes flying over the advertising boards. The England full-back tries to apologies, but he is greeted by a shove from Altidore.
The following corner is not much better, but Holtby does manage to get a shot away, albeit a tame one.
Another poor corner from Tottenham, but they get lucky as they win a second in quick succession.
Lennon comes inside again to receive the ball. He spins away from his marker with an excellent first touch and then lobs the ball into the area for Paulinho, who sees his shot deflected wide. Corner.
Brilliant move by the hosts. Fletcher drops deep to collects possession, produces a clever dummy to evade Paulinho and then passes forward for Altidore. The American flicks the ball into the area for Colback with his first touch, but the final shot goes over the goal.
The corner comes to nothing as Paulinho eventually knocks the ball out of play for a goalkick.
At the other end Holtby sees a good shot palmed around the post by Mannone. Corner for Spurs.
Great lofted pass over the Spurs defence from Bardsley. Fletcher manages to race on to the end of it and shoots from the edge of the area, but his attempt goes harmlessly wide.
Johnson does well to keep the ball on the left as he holds off Walker, but the full-back pushes the former Manchester City man right out to the touchline and his eventual cross is weak.
Sunderland give Paulinho a lot of space and the Brazilian runs into it before shooting from range, but his effort flies just over. Good effort.
Dembele looks to inject some speed into the Spurs attack by bursting forward, but he knocks the ball too far ahead of himself and Larsson pokes it away.
Chadli takes possession into the Sunderland half. He jinks past one marker before fouling Ki, whom stole the ball from him.
Lennon tries his luck by cutting inside. He looks to weave his way through a group of players, but is halted quickly.
Spurs nearly create an opening as Holtby threads a pass through for Defoe, but it is just a little too heavy.
Tentative start to proceedings so far. Both sides are just feeling their way into this seemingly.
Sunderland start the action.
The Stadium of Light is now participating in a minute of applause in tribute to the late Nelson Mandela, the former South African president who passed away on Thursday.
Recent history is not on the side of Sunderland today. They've not won any of their last six meetings with Spurs.
Spurs have also made four changes from their win over Fulham on Wednesday. Kyle Naughton, Moussa Dembele, Lewis Holtby and Nacer Chadli all come back into the side.
Sunderland have made four changes from the side which lost to Chelsea in their midweek fixture. Adam Johnson, Steven Fletcher, Seb Larsson and Ondrej Celustka all return to their starting line-up.
