Thanks for joining me tonight. I hope you have enjoyed the action, even if it went on for 30 minutes longer than you would have liked!
120' + 3'
FULL-TIME! Sunderland are through to the Capital One Cup semi-finals after a 2-1 win over Chelsea after extra-time! Chelsea dominated proceedings in regulation time, but Sunderland struck late to secure an extra 30 minutes. From there, it was generally all Sunderland. The hosts were excellent in extra-time and scored a late goal again as they completed the turnaround. Will that inspire their league form? We shall see, but one thing is clear; they are in the last four of the Capital One Cup.
Two minutes of added time will be played.
Yellow CardKi Sung-Yueng
That is exactly what their extra-time performance has deserved.
GOAL!!! SUNDERLAND TAKE THE LEAD!! With only a few minutes left, Larsson collects a cross, flicks it to the left for Ki and the South Korean comes back across the area before firing low past Schwarzer!
Celustka connects with the resulting corner, but he shoots well wide.
What a save by Schwarzer! Larsson delivers an excellent cross into the area from deep and Ki's header looks to be heading for the top-far corner, but Schwarzer tips it over in acrobatic fashion!
Great chance for Sunderland! Larsson's excellent free-kick is punched away by Schwarzer, but only as far as Ki. He half-volleys the ball back into the danger area and Altidore directs it towards goal, but Schwarzer palms it away.
Yellow CardMichael Essien
Tentative penalty claims from Sunderland as Essien fouls Giaccherini on the right side of the Chelsea area, but the referee is correct to only award a free-kick.
Intelligent link-up play between Ba and De Bruyne, and the latter drops his shoulder to beat O'Shea before shooting, but he narrowly misses the bottom-left corner.
Excellent out-swinging corner by Larsson, but Celustka's near-post flick seems to take the ball out Altidore's path.
Sunderland are straight on to the attack down the right and they win a corner.
Kick-off is delayed for a few moments while Luiz returns from the toilet, but we are back underway.
105' + 1'
HALF-TIME! There goes the referee's whistle for half-time. The turnaround should be fairly instant, so don't go anywhere!
Mikel has taken a bang to the back of the head and needs medical attention.
Both sides are pressing with intent in this first half of extra time. One certainly can't fault their efforts.
Massive chance for Borini! Dossena delivers a deep cross towards the back post and Cole fails to deal with it, but the defender did enough to put Borini off and the eventual shot is a bad mishit.
Excellent play by Willian as he cruises around Celustka and feeds the ball into the goal mouth, but Brown smashes it behind.
End-to-end stuff so far. De Bruyne kept a long-ball alive and crossed to the near post for Ba, but O'Shea manages to get in the way and take the sting out of the effort.
Celustka and Willian see their roles reversed as the full-back nutmegs the Brazilian, but no Sunderland plays can reach his cut-back. Sunderland do get a corner, however.
Dangerous attacking play by Willian as he glides past Celustka and crosses, but Brown heads it out for a corner.
There is the period's first shot as De Bruyne cuts in on his right foot and shoots from about 25 yards, but his effort goes well wide.
Right, Chelsea start the first half of extra-time.
90' + 6'
END OF NORMAL TIME! Sunderland earn themselves 30 extra minutes after a late equaliser. Chelsea have, once again, flattered to deceive over the course of the full match and Sunderland made the most of their poor finishing. The visitors should have been at least two-up before Borini's equaliser, but the reality is that they now have at least another 30 minutes to play.
90' + 3'
Cahill bursts forward from the back and he tries to play any number of team-mates, but his pass is pretty dreadful and it goes all the way through to Mannone.
90' + 1'
What a chance for a second Sunderland goal! Again, Borini gets into the area, but his first touch is not great and gives Cahill the chance to get across. He does eventually shoot with his left foot, but the defender makes the important tackle.
Five minutes of stoppage time has been added.
GOAL!!! Sunderland equalise! Sunderland passed straight through Chelsea and Giaccherini did well to slip Altidore into the area. The American took his time and the chance seemed to have passed as his shot was deflected to the right side of the area, but there was Borini who fired into the bottom-far corner.
Larsson's delivery is a good one, but Schwarzer is able to punch it away.
Dossena gets forward down the left with intent and he wins a corner as Willian blocked the Italian's cross.
Chelsea are knocking the ball around well now in an attempt to tire the hosts out. To make matter worse for Sunderland, Hazard is now on for Mourinho's side.
Luiz produces another good long-range pass for Ba. This time he plays it diagonal, towards the back post. Ba peels off his marker and volleys the ball first-time, but it bobbles just wide of the bottom-far corner.
Schurrle goes close once again, but this time Mannone is equal to his effort from the edge of the area.
Chelsea create another decent chance as Schurrle picks up possession just outside the Sunderland box and shoots left-footed, but his effort is deflected just wide. The visitors do not get a corner, however.
From the resulting corner the ball again comes to Ba, but as before his first touch lets him down.
Ba's first involvement in the match sees him latch on to a long ball from Luiz and he brings it down quite well, but he knocks it on to Brown, who concedes a corner.
Chelsea make another change as Demba Ba replaces Eto'o, who once again has not been particularly impressive.
Meanwhile, former Chelsea man Borini comes on in attack for Sunderland. Johnson goes off.
De Bruyne marches down the right and puts in a very dangerous low cross, but Brown manages to put the ball over his own goal, somehow. He did not look like he meant that!
Sunderland have come back into this once again and are looking better in an attacking sense than they have at any other point in this half, but still their final ball is generally poor.
Azpilicueta is forced off with a knee injury and he is replaced by Essien.
Threatening move by Sunderland as Larsson plays Altidore in to his left. The American appears to let the move pass him by as he is slow to get the ball on to his right foot before shooting. Cahill blocks his eventual effort, but the ball lands at the feet of Cattermole, who hits a long-range effort into the gloves of Schwarzer.
We are having a break in play at the moment as first of all, Azpilicueta seeks medical attention and then a fan decides to enter the pitch. Both managers find the situation amusing as stadium stewards struggle in their attempts to jump on the invader.
Good chance for Sunderland as Larsson hits a half-volley towards goal, but Luiz blocks it just in front of the six-yard box.
Poyet shows his hand first as he brings off Gardner for Ki. The former had a pretty terrible start to the second half.
The two combine again in almost identical circumstances as Eto'o tees up Lampard, but the outcome is the same as the shot goes over the crossbar, albeit much further over.
Lampard is really enjoying himself out there now. A cross from the right lands and the feet of Eto'o and he lays the ball back to the edge of the area for Lampard, who hits a stinging drive just over.
The corner comes to little, but Chelsea keep Sunderland camped in their own area.
Good save by Mannone! Cattermole is well tackled by Lampard and the midfielder charges forward before slipping De Bruyne into the area. The Belgian fires towards the far side of the goal, but the goalkeeper tips it around the post.
Sunderland are really struggling now. The visitors are dominating possession and getting the ball forward far quicker than in the first half.
What a chance for Eto'o! Gardner is caught in possession and the forward finds himself with only the goalkeeper to beat, but he misses the target. That really should have been 2-0.
Chelsea are looking very fluid in these first few minutes of the second period. Lampard gets away from Cattermole with an excellent first touch, but his chipped pass over the defence for Eto'o has too much on it.
Larsson's delivery is an inviting one, but it is too high for all his team-mates and Schwarzer plucks it out of the air.
Sunderland are looking to make an immediate response and they have themselves a free-kick in an advance position on the right.
Own GoalLee Cattermole
GOAL!!! Chelsea take the lead in the first minute of the second half! De Bruyne played an excellent pass down the right for Azpilicueta and after an even better cross from the Spaniard, Lampard squeezed the ball over the line.
Here we go, Chelsea get the second half underway.
45' + 1'
HALF-TIME! And there goes the referee's whistle for half-time. It has been far from a classic, with neither side really creating a great deal, but Sunderland will go into the break as the happier side after putting in a decent, positive. Chelsea have been playing well within themselves and you don't get the impression that Mourinho will accept anything other than an improvement in the second half.
Brilliant, silky run by Johnson as he skips around Lampard, runs past Schurrle, jolts inside Luiz and shapes to shoot, but his final touch is slightly too heavy and Cahill smacks it clear. That would have been some goal.
The dangerous Schurrle threatens again. This times he beats a man and then shoots from range, but the left-footed attempt is wayward and misses the target by some distance.
Brown is caught slacking for at least the third time in this half. Chelsea quickly get the ball forward to Eto'o, who looks set to beat O'Shea and shoot, but he is stopped when Brown comes back and pushes him over. Amazingly the referee doesn't award a free-kick.
Once again Sunderland lose the ball when trying to play it out of defence. Willian intercepts and immediately plays Schurrle into the right side of the area. He cuts the ball back to Lampard, who finds Willian again, but the eventual shot from the Brazilian zips just wide of the left-hand post.
And the corner comes to nothing as Schwarzer catches it out of the air.
Sunderland players and fans alike are united in their feelings towards the referee right now. They are all convinced they should have a penalty after that cross appeared to strike Azpilicueta on the arm, but they have to settle for the corner.
Excellent move by Sunderland. After threatening down the right, Larsson switches play to the left. Giaccherini waits for the overlap of Dossena and the Italian's cross hits Azpilicueta before going out for a corner.
Yellow CardAndrea Dossena
And now Dossena goes into the referee's book. Once again, the defender callously takes out his opponent after Willian flicked the ball past him.
Larsson's delivery is a little too heavy as it goes straight out for a goal kick.
Yellow CardDavid Luiz
There is the match's first yellow card. Giaccherini knocks the ball past Luiz and the defender cynically brings him down. Sunderland to loft the ball in from deep once again.
Good pressure from Sunderland at the moment. Gardner brings a poor clearance down on the edge of Chelsea's area. His first touch takes Luiz and Schurrle out of the game, but when he tries to play Altidore into the area, he is crowded out.
Brilliant delivery by Larsson as the ball gets all the way to the far post. Dossena helps it back into the danger are and it almost falls for Gardner, but Chelsea hack it clear.
Good footwork by Johnson as he keeps the ball away from Luiz before drawing a foul. Larsson will now whip it in from deep.
Sunderland needlessly try to play the ball out from the back. They lose it just outside their own area and Willian is quick to play Schurrle into the area. Brown comes across in an attempt to get the ball back, but the German jinks past him brilliantly and smashes the ball across the face of the goal. No one is there to knock it in, however.
Giaccherini does well as he gets forward down the right, skips past Luiz, keeps the ball from Cole and then flicks it to Celustka. The full-back crosses, but it is hit a little too far for Altidore and Cahill nods away.
Encouraging play by Chelsea as De Bruyne comes in from the right flank, lays the ball off to Willian and keeps running. The Brazilian tries to thread a pass into the area for his team-mate, but Cattermole makes a crucial interception.
The hosts make the odd choice to afford Lampard a lot of space within shooting distance, but the England midfielder is unable to capitalise as his effort sails comfortably over Mannone's goal.
Sunderland are seeing plenty of the ball now, following Chelsea's early control. They could do with getting an early chance to get the crowd pumped, though.
The German lines it up with a long, straight run-up, but the finish was more Ricardo Carvalho than Cristiano Ronaldo as it flies well over the crossbar.
Free kick for Chelsea about 35 yards from goal following a coming-together in the middle. Schurrle and Lampard stand over it.
Gardner tries to skip past a challenge on the edge of the Chelsea area, but the visitors steal possession and spring a counterattack. The move ends as Willian skillfully beats Dossena and shoots from 20 yards, but it is easy for Mannone.
Lovely play by Willian as the Brazilian glides into the Sunderland half and pretends to feed Azpilicueta in down the right. Instead he slices a pass to the left for Schurrle and the German cuts on to his right foot before firing a decent attempt straight at Mannone.
Chelsea have seen most of the ball in these opening stages, but Brown does well to dispossess Eto'o after following the forward out to the left.
The home side start the action.
The teams are now leaving the tunnel and entering the pitch. Kick-off is still a few minutes away, but there is a disappointing crowd at the Stadium of Light.
Sunderland have not won any of their last six meetings with Chelsea, but they did give Mourinho's side a run for their money when they face each other on December 4, with Gus Poyet's side suffering a slender 4-3 loss.
Jose Mourinho has made eight changes to the team which narrowly beat Crystal Palace in the Premier League at the weekend, with the likes of Eden Hazard, John Terry, Michael Essien and Fernando Torres resting with a place on the bench.
And the Chelsea side today is: Schwarzer; Azpilicueta, Cahill, D Luiz, Cole; Mikel, Lampard; De Bruyne, Willian, Schurrle; Eto’o. SUBS: Blackman, Terry, Essien, Oscar, Hazard, Ba, Torres.
The Sunderland team is: Mannone; Celustka, O'Shea, Brown, Dossena; Giaccherini, Larsson, Cattermole, Gardner, Johnson; Altidore. SUBS: Bardsley, Ki, Cabral, Roberge, Borini, Mavrias, Dixon.
