Was beaten to a loose ball by Chamakh but was fortunate to see the striker dive instead of stay on his feet and put Palace 1-0 up. Otherwise didn't have a save to make.
Allowed Chamakh to stroll past him far too easily but was saved when the striker decided to dive in the area - when he should have scored. Otherwise had another good game at the back, winning header after header.
Ventured forward when he could and caught Palace out with a few early deliveries into team-mates' feet. Defended pretty solidly too.
Did everything asked of him defensively and his distribution from the back was good.
Allowed Kebe to get the better of him on the break a few too many times and, going forward, he didn't offer nearly as much as he can.
Went close early on but denied by Ward on the goal-line. Normally drives Saints forward but failed to really take control of the fairly scrappy game. Helped protect his defence well and improved after the break.
Broke down plenty of moves with some tough tackling - though they weren't always the most cutting-edge attacks. Was sometimes a bit slow or sideways with his passing but still kept the ball well.
Booked for tugging Kebe back after losing the ball too easily. Didn't keep the ball as well as he normally does, and offered little creativity going forward. Replaced by Ward-Prowse.
Teed up Lambert after a neat turn in the area but, while he was tricky at times, didn't create enough. Assisted Osvaldo's opener with some nice footwork. Brought off very late on.
Showed some neat flicks and skills but struggled to really get into the game before the break. Kept at it, though, and opened the scoring with a powerful drive soon after half-time. Nearly had a second when helping Ward-Prowse's cross onto the post.
Dropped deep and pulled most of Saints' strings in the first half, while going close himself on a few occasions. Stepped it up after the break with a fine free kick to make it 2-0, and to score his 200th league career goal.
Saved by Ward after some poor early positioning allowed Schneiderlin to beat him to a loose ball. Kept out a dangerous Lambert free kick. Should have done better with Osvaldo's opener.
Did well against the physical Lambert and kept tabs on Osvaldo for the most part of the game too. Perhaps unfortunate to concede twice.
The ex-Portsmouth defender became even more unpopular when he made an early goal-line clearance to deny Schneiderlin. He continued to impress at right-back but could have done more going forward.
Made numerous important blocks and tackles but was too easily wrong-footed by Lallana in the build-up to Osvaldo's opener.
Rightly gave Chamakh an earful when the striker dallied in his own half when Palace had a chance to break. Had a decent game but did little going forward.
Worked hard and looked dangerous, if not always under control, when charging forwards on the right flank. His final delivery was consistently poor, though. Brought off for Phillips later on.
Kept Palace ticking for short spells when they had the ball but didn't really offer anything going forward. Replaced by Jerome once Palace went 2-0 down.
Battled away in the middle of the park and helped keep Saints relatively quiet in the first half, but faded after the break.
Got stuck in as he helped break down Southampton's attacks early on, but made a few sloppy passes on the front foot. Failed to get close enough to Osvaldo for his opening goal and then gave away the free kick for Lambert's too.
Struggled all afternoon as he failed to get hold of the ball up top. Booked for diving when he could have easily stayed on his feet and finished into the empty net. Looked uninterested at times.
Got himself isolated at times and failed to really make an impact on the match. Replaced by Thomas soon after Palace went 2-0 down as Holloway looked to save the game.
