Live Commentary

  • Credit to Austria Vienna tonight as they bow out. They defended excellently and finally got themselves on the scoresheet. Zenit's visit next week is by no means a formality and Porto will hope they can repeat this performance in two weeks' time. For now, though, I've been Tom Maston and thanks for joining me.
  • Porto paid the price for their failures in front of goal and now know they must win in Madrid to stand any chance of reaching the knockout stages. Even that may not be enough, though, as a Zenit win in Vienna would put the Russian side through.
  • The final whistle blows and Porto's hopes of reaching the last 16 lay in tatters after only picking up a point against the now eliminated Austria Vienna.
  • 90' + 3'
    Yellow Card Marin Leovac
  • 90' + 3'
Another yellow card for the visitors as Leovac is late on Danilo.
  • 90' + 2'
SAVED! Martinez spurns yet another opportunity as he looks to slide one past Lindner with his left foot but the goalkeeper can parry low to his right.
  • 90' + 1'
We are into three minutes of stoppage time. Can either side force a winner?
  • 90'
    Yellow Card Kaja Rogulj
Rogulj picks up a booking as Martinez is felled around 35 yards from goal.
  • 88'
Alex Sandro gets the ball into the box again, this time from a long throw, but Martinez's flick-on is straight at Lindner and he can catch with ease.
  • 86'
The ball is whipped in but again the visitors' defence is up to the task. Less than five minutes now for either side to find a winner.
  • 85'
Porto have had varying success with set-pieces, but they have another chance to get the ball into the box as Koch concedes a free-kick on the left...
  • 83'
Best chance for a while for Porto as Martinez climbs highest in the middle but his header is too high, though Mangala's presence may have put him off.
  • 82'
    SubstitutionMarkus Suttner Rubin Okotie
A final change for the visitors as Suttner, who has been limping, is replaced by Okotie.
  • 81'
Austria Vienna again clear, and though Alex Sandro can whip in a cross from the rebound, Suttner is there to clear.
  • 80'
Yet another home corner as Varela sees his cross charged down by Koch...
  • 78'
A fine Rokulj tackle on Martinez means that another Porto chance goes begging. They have ten minutes to make their task on matchday six that much easier.
  • 76'
Remember Austria Vienna need a goal to keep their hopes of qualification alive, but at present they are struggling to get the ball into the Porto half. Hosiner is struggling to find support when they do look to come forward.
  • 74'
Porto continue to push for a winner but at present it is fairly comfotable for the visitors. Martinez and Varela not doing enough to really threaten.
  • 72'
    SubstitutionJosue J. Quintero
Porto make their third and final change as Quintero replaces Josue. He has been disappointing this evening.
  • 70'
    SubstitutionEmir Dilaver Florian Mader
A second substitution from the visitors as Dilaver makes way for Mader in midfield.
  • 69'
More goalmouth action from the home side as Danilo delivers a superb ball but Lucho cannot convert at the back post as his effort flies over the top.
  • 68'
Josue's out-swinger is easily dealt with by Rogulj and the home supporters are again frustrated.
  • 67'
Porto win another corner as Koch is forced to clear behind under pressure from Martinez...
  • 65'
    SubstitutionLicá Ricardo Pereira
And now a change for Porto as the dangerous Lica is replaced by Ricardo with 25 minutes to go.
  • 64'
    SubstitutionThomas Murg Marin Leovac
Austria Vienna make their first change as Leovac replaces Murg.
  • 64'
Pinball in the visitors' box ends with Martinez and Varela getting in each other's way before the latter sees a deflected shot land on the roof of the net.
  • 62'
Porto have certainly been on the front foot throughout this second half but clearcut chances remain at a premium. Austria Vienna have been excellent in defence thus far.
  • 60'
Wasted chance for Porto as Alex Sandro's cross is headed back by Lucho but Lica's attempt at an acrobatic volley ends in him failing to make contact. Thirty minutes for either team to find a winner.
  • 57'
A rare effort on goal for the visitors as Hosiner cuts inside onto his right foot on the edge of the box but Helton can watch it fly wide.
  • 56'
SUPER SAVE! Lindner is at it again with a fantastic reflex save. Lica delivers from the left and Lucho thinks he has scored at the near post, but the goalkeeper saves with his knee.
  • 55'
    Yellow Card Markus Suttner
First booking of the evening as Suttner dives in and is rightly shown a yellow card.
  • 54'
Danilo is still looking to make amends for his part in the visitors' goal as he cuts inside onto his left foot but fires high and wide. Not the best shot on goal you'll see.
  • 52'
Austria Vienna are looking to push forward as they know they need to score to stay in the Champions League.
  • 50'
Porto continue their good attacking play as Danilo forces Lindner into punching away a cross and Alex Sandro fires the rebound over the top. Porto still need another to put themselves in control of their own destiny.
  • 48'
    Assist Eliaquim Mangala
  • 48'
    Goal Jackson Martínez
GOAL!!! Porto are back in it as Josue finally delivers an excellent corner. Mangala gets up well at the back post after Maicon's flick, and Martinez has the easiest of tasks to head into an empty net. All square in Portugal.
  • 46'
    SubstitutionSteven Defour Silvestre Varela
Varela has replaced Defour and the hosts have got us back underway...
  • Porto have already made their way back onto the pitch and they look set to make a change with Varela set to come on.
  • With a difficult trip to Madrid to come Porto are really going to have to step it up in the second period, and with Austria Vienna looking dangerous on the break that could play into the visitors' hands. I'll be back in around 10 minutes to see if the Portuguese side can resurrect their Champions League hopes.
  • No time added on and the half-time whistle goes. There are boos from the home side with their side 1-0 down to the Group G whipping boys. Porto have had all the play in the first half, but with Lindner in fine form they have struggled to find a way through.
  • 43'
Alex Sandro is at it again as he aims for Martinez, but Suttner does well to challenge the striker and force him to head wide for a goal kick. Austria Vienna's defence has been impressive in this first half.
  • 41'
Yet another cross from the right from Josue and Ortlechner does well to flick it behind for a corner. Josue this time aims for the edge of the area but Lindner's goal isn't threatened.
  • 39'
Porto are suddenly having more joy down the right as Defour breaks forward and crosses for Martinez at the near post. The striker gets the faintest of touches but Lindner again catches.
  • 37'
Lindner is having a fantastic evening and he again has come to Porto's rescue. Lica puts in a dangerous low ball for Martinez and the striker gets a shot in from close range. The goalkeeper is equal to it though and his clean sheet remains.
  • 36'
Austria Vienna have one of their rare forays forward as Murg looks for Hosiner in the box, but the striker can't get on the end of it and Porto can clear.
  • 34'
Another opportunity comes and goes for Porto as Josue delivers a free-kick but Fernando is penalised for a push. Just not happening for Fonseca's side in this first half.
  • 32'
Another Porto corner from the left threatens as Josue finds Maicon around 12 yards from goal. His effort is straight at Lindner, though the big defender is frustrated none of his teammates challenged the goalkeeper.
  • 30'
Opportunity here for Porto as Suttner stupidly trips Lica by the corner flag when the winger is going nowhere. The dead ball is worked well with the cross eventually finding Martinez, but with his header falling for Fernando the flag goes up for offside. Austria Vienna survive again.
  • 28'
Alex Sandro again whips in a cross looking for Martinez, but this time it is just too high for the striker and Lindner can sweep up behind him. Porto pushing for the equaliser without reward.
  • 26'
Yet another Sandro cross has the Austria Vienna defence worried but they eventually clear it behind. Josue's resulting corner is another poor one and the visitors clear.
  • 24'
Appeals for a penalty from Austria Vienna as Royer looks to take on Danilo, only for the ball to hit the right-back's hand. The officials decide against awarding a spot-kick though.
  • 23'
Alex Sandro is proving to be an excellent attacking option on the left as he swings over another cross that Lucho meets at the back post. He cannot get enough on his header, however, and Austria Vienna breath again as it skids wide.
  • 22'
GREAT SAVE! Yet another chance for Porto as Defour is set free down the left-hand side of the area, but Lindner is off his line quickly and stays on his feet to block the effort. It's already proving to be a busy evening for the Austria Vienna goalkeeper.
  • 19'
Danilo looks to make amends for the error which led to the goal as he tries a side-footed effort from the edge of the area. It is straight at Lindner, though, and the goalkeeper catches with ease.
  • 18'
Plenty of nice passing from Porto but nothing too incisive at present. Need more creativity to force the equaliser.
  • 16'
The bulk of the action is still taking place in the visitors' half, with Josue this time swinging in a free-kick from the left that Lindner comes to collect with ease. Disappointing from the attacking midfielder.
  • 14'
The resulting corner is cleared and Austria Vienna almost strike on the counter-attack as Hosiner gets clear of the defence, only for Lucho to get back and make a crucial challenge with the striker poised to shoot.
  • 13'
GREAT SAVE! Porto look for a rapid response as Sandro shows great feet on the left before swinging over an inviting cross that Martinez meets with his head. Lindner is equal to it though and tips it over the top.
  • 11'
    Goal Roman Kienast
GOAL!!! What a turn-up for the books as Austria Vienna have finally found the net in the Champions League! It all comes from a horrendous clearance from Danilo, and after Kienast picks it up midway inside the Porto defence, he runs at the back four before firing home from 20 yards. Totally against the run of play.
  • 8'
Porto again pile forward as Martinez and Josue trade passes on the edge of the box before the latter tries his luck, but his effort is too high and Lindner can watch it over his crossbar. The hosts are certainly threatening early on.
  • 6'
Porto have certainly started on the front foot with the visitors struggling to keep hold of the ball for any prolonged period. Lone striker Hosiner is already beginning to look isolated.
  • 4'
The resulting corner is a poor one from Josue, but after being given a second chance to deliver he picks out Maicon at the back post. The defender has time to direct his header goalwards but he cannot control it and it flies wide.
  • 3'
First shot on goal comes from Martinez as he receives the ball on the edge of the box from Lucho before turning and firing for goal. His effort is deflected wide, however.

Austria Vienna kick-off and we are underway...
  • The officials this evening are from Romania are they almost ready to get things underway. Can Porto push for the last 16 or will Austria Vienna begin a remarkable push for the knockout stages? We're about to find out...
  • The two teams make their way out onto the field before the most familiar of anthems is played out over the speakers inside Estadio do Dragao. Supporters are still making their way in as the two sides go through their pre-match handshakes.
  • The two sides are in the tunnel as we await kick-off. Not long to go now...
  • If Porto are to win then their hopes may be pinned on striker Jackson Martinez, who has 11 goals so far this term in all competitions. With Josue and Lica to feed him he should get plenty of chances to add to that tally this evening.
  • Paulo Fonseca's side have not lost here in 77 outings in domestic football, though their two defeats in the tournament so far have certainly put their fans on edge ahead of what would have been earmarked as a fairly simple encounter prior to the start of the group stage. In reality, if they can't beat the Austrian champions at home then they don't deserve to reach the last 16.
  • There are just under 15 minutes until kick-off on what is a chilly evening in Portugal. The Estadio do Dragao is far from full at present, but given how crucial this fixture is to Porto's Champions League hopes I'm sure they will have made their way in by the time we get underway.
  • Austria Vienna: Lindner, Koch, Rogulj, Ortlechner, Suttner, Holland, Dilaver, Royer, Kienast, Murg, Hosiner.
  • Porto: Helton, Danilo, Maicon, Mangala, Alex Sandro, Fernando, Gonzalez, Defour, Josue, Martinez, Lica.
  • Before going any further, the two line-ups have been announced ahead of kick-off...
  • Tonight's visitors Austria Vienna are yet to score in this year's competition, but due to the results of others they could still join Atletico in reaching the last 16 from Group G. Anything less than a win in Portugal would see them crash out, but with Porto's indifferent home showings they will be hopeful of their first Champions League win.
  • Porto were the top seeds in the this group, but their campaign has been hit by some unusually poor home form. Defeats to both Atletico Madrid and Zenit have left them knowing that they will most probably have to go to Madrid on the final matchday needing to get at least a point. For now, though, they must pick up three points this evening or face relying on other results in two weeks' time.
  • Before continuing with the build-up, the full-time whistle has blown in Russia in the other match in this group, with a late own goal rescuing a 1-1 draw for Zenit St Petersburg against group winners Atletico Madrid. That result means a home win for Porto would see them into the qualification places with just a trip to Madrid to come.
  • Hello and welcome to live coverage of the Champions League Group G encounter between Porto and Austria Vienna. Both sides still harbour hopes of reaching the knockout stages, though defeat for either team could spell the end of their respective campaigns. I'm Tom Maston and I'll be guiding you through all the action from Portugal as it happens.
