  • David Moyes will be left feeling blue after his return to Goodison Park, as he falls for a second time this season to his former team. I'm Alex Moretto, and I'd like to thank you all for joining me here today. Good bye!
  • FULL-TIME: EVERTON 2-0 MANCHESTER UNITED. Leighton Baines and Kevin Mirallas' first half goals were enough to see Everton to the finish line, as they do the league double over United for the first time in over 40 years! Roberto Martinez's side keep the pressure on Arsenal in their race for fourth, while Manchester United's European aspirations have been dashed.
  • 90' + 4'
    SubstitutionKevin Mirallas Aiden McGeady
  • 90' + 4'
Roberto Martinez milks the final few seconds off the clock as Aiden McGeady comes on for Kevin Mirallas.
  • 90' + 2'
SMALLING! Great defending from John Stones! Rooney, tight up against the corner flag, sends a perfect ball into the box for Smalling, but Stones does just enough to disrupt his header as he sends it well wide.
  • 90' + 1'
Into the first of four minutes of added time, and Coleman continues to terrorize United! He gets into space on the right and sends a wonderful ball into the box for Lukaku, but some tight defending forces a poor shot that never troubled De Gea's goal.
  • 89'
MIRALLAS! A horrendous clearance attempt from Carrick falls right to the Belgian, but the United midfielder recovers to block the shot as it goes behind for a corner.
  • 87'
HOW DID THAT STAY OUT?! Brilliant work by Hernandez to round Alcaraz and send Rooney clean in behind the defence, where he always seems to score. This time, he puts it straight at Howard, who was scrambling to get towards the far post, but makes a sensational stop with his left hand. Rooney had the time and space there but uncharacteristically rushed his shot.
  • 85'
Welbeck retreats under pressure from Coleman and McCarthy, eventually giving the ball away to Lukaku who starts a counter for Everton. The Belgian gets around Jones and is eventually taken down by Welbeck who raced back to break up the move, but concedes a free kick.
  • 83'
STAT ATTACK: Everton have beaten Manchester United just twice in their last 18 visits to Goodison Park.
  • 81'
Mirallas does some great work along the right to nutmeg Fletcher, and then win a foul near the corner flag. Everton are doing an excellent job of seeing this game out as we enter the final 10 minutes. The free kick is poor, however, and United clear the danger, only temporarily.
  • 79'
WHAT A SAVE BY DE GEA! Seamus Coleman dispossesses Rooney and spearheads an Everton counter, four against three. The right-back charges forward and lays it off for Naismith who sidesteps a defender and tries to curl a shot inside the far post. De Gea stretches and just gets his fingers to it to tip it behind for a corner.
  • 77'
SO CLOSE FOR NAISMITH! Everton work the ball up the pitch very well. Mirallas, who has been all over the place for the Toffees, sends a wonderful pass into the box for Naismith. It doesn't quite settle for the forward, who can't get over top of the ball and ends up scooping it wide and high at the far post.
  • 75'
    SubstitutionShinji Kagawa Danny Welbeck
  • 75'
Everton win a corner now as they look to wind down the clock and find a third goal to put this game to rest. Barry meets the corner and heads it back into the danger area, but no one can get to it as United clear the danger.
  • 73'
Danny Welbeck is given a long talking to by David Moyes as he looks set to make his way on here. Is there still time for United to rescue something from this match? Shinji Kagawa is the one to give way, and it's been long overdue as the Japanese midfielder has been very poor here today.
  • 71'
Everton are applying so much pressure on the ball, and United can't find a way around that! Their negative build-up is what has been plaguing them to this point, as they not only struggle to find a way through in attack, but look for a way to keep the ball in the final third.
  • 70'
    SubstitutionRoss Barkley Leon Osman
  • 69'
Approaching 20 minutes left to play here at Goodison, with United still looking for a breakthrough. They started the half with so much promise, but have failed to live up to those opening few minutes as Everton have settled back in and continued their dominance in defence.
  • 67'
Superb run from Barkley, but it was just lacking a good finish. He uses his pace to blow by Smalling and Evans, but his final touch runs a bit far as he's forced to shoot from a poor angle, missing the net by a good distance. It would have been something of a miracle if he put that one on target, running away from goal.
  • 65'
McCarthy down and in some pain as he collides with Rooney trying to win a loose ball. The Irishman was caught as he kicked the ball, and may have just tweaked his ankle a bit. He's struggling to put weight on his right foot as he makes his way off the pitch.
  • 63'
STAT ATTACK: Manchester United have won four straight away matches in the league and are unbeaten in their last five.
  • 61'
    SubstitutionJonny Evans Javier Hernández
  • 61'
    SubstitutionNani Antonio Valencia
  • 61'
WHAT A BALL FROM MIRALLAS! The Belgian picks out Lukaku with an absolutely superb pass from just beyond the half-way line, but the striker gets a bit too close to goal as he can only put his shot straight at De Gea.
  • 60'
    Yellow Card James McCarthy
  • 59'
McCarthy comes very hard into the back of Mata, rather overzealous there, as he earns himself a yellow card. It looked quite bad, and could have ended a lot worse for the Spaniard whose knee buckled from under him.
  • 57'
CLOSE TO A THIRD FOR EVERTON! From a corner kick, Mirallas delivers, and Alcaraz climbs well to meet the ball with his head, but can't get enough power behind it to beat De Gea.
  • 55'
United can't break out of their own half here! Great pressure by Everton on Evans and Jones, as they nearly win it back on more than one occasion. Evans has finally seen enough as he boots it up the pitch and concedes possession, much to the delight of the Everton supporters.
  • 53'
CHANCE HERE FOR UNITED? Baines clips Nani just outside the box and United have a free kick from close range here, with Mata and Rooney standing over it. The Spaniard is the one to take, but he smacks it off the wall and Everton clear the danger.
  • 51'
Horrid defending from Kagawa! The midfielder again fails to track the run of Coleman, allowing him time and space to run at Evans. He charges into the box and has a go, but mishits it as it swerves well wide at the near post. Evans livid with Kagawa who has lost Coleman time and time again in this match.
  • 50'
    Yellow Card Chris Smalling
  • 49'
WHAT A START TO THE HALF FOR UNITED! Rooney's corner is cleared by Everton, but only as far as Kagawa. The Japan international unleashes an effort from long range, and strikes it well, but it's just too close to Howard who gets down to make the save.
  • 47'
    Yellow Card Ross Barkley
  • 47'
ROONEY NEARLY GETS UNITED ON THE BOARD! Mata picks out the forward inside the box, and he twists and turns his way in close, into a clear shooting position, but Alcaraz tracks back and breaks it up at the vital moment!
  • 46'
    SubstitutionSylvain Distin A. Alcáraz
  • 46'
Everton kick-off the second half and we're underway in Merseyside! One change to note at half as Distin comes off in the centre of defence for Alcaraz. Reports are that he picked up a hamstring injury and could not continue.
  • STAT ATTACK: The last time Everton led Manchester United 2-0 at Goodison was back on April 28, 2007. The Red Devils would score in the 61st, 67th, 78th and 90th minutes to cap off an incredible second half comeback, winning the match 4-2.
  • Manchester United with 67 percent possession at the break, and nearly doubling Everton in passing, with 381 compared to their 193. The discrepancy lies in the two teams total attempts, with Manchester United managing only one through the opening 45 minutes compared to Everton's eight.
  • HALF-TIME: EVERTON 2-0 MANCHESTER UNITED. It's every Scouser's dream as Leighton Baines and Kevin Mirallas have the Toffees two goals up at half in David Moyes' return to Goodison. United are far from out of this game, as they haven't played poorly by any means, but they'll need to find a way to break down this Everton defence if they are to have any hope of a comeback.
  • 45' + 1'
Mark Clattenburg sounds his whistle and we've reached the half-way point at Goodison! Incredible scenes here, as the crowd has reached new heights with the cheers echoing throughout Merseyside!
  • 45'
One minute of added time indicated by the assistant referee as Manchester United win a corner. Rooney delivers it into a dangerous area, and it deflects off the back of Barry straight into the hands of Tim Howard. That's the most action he's seen all half, the American.
  • 43'
    Assist Seamus Coleman
  • 43'
    Goal Kevin Mirallas
GOOOOOOOOOOAL! Seamus Coleman with acres of space as Everton counter. He sends in a wonderful ball to spot the run of Mirallas who slots home brilliantly past De Gea. Goodison erupts as Everton double their lead!
  • 41'
United coming closer, but not close enough. Nani crosses in for Rooney, but he can't meet the ball with his head. It rolls to Mata along the left. He sends another ball into the crowded box, but the compete level isn't there for United as Everton win the ball ball once again and clear.
  • 39'
STAT ATTACK: Everton’s 19 victories this season tie a club record set back in 2007-08. They can achieve a new high with a win today.
  • 37'
United trying for anything in attack, but nothing is working for them at the moment. Rooney picks out Nani at the far post off a corner, but the Portuguese international can't find Carrick in the centre. The visitors can't muster up anything, with Everton defending so well throughout this first half.
  • 35'
INCHES TOO FAR FOR LUKAKU! Everton work their way through the United defence, with Naismith sending Mirallas into space on the right. The Belgian sends a low cross in for his countryman Lukaku, but it's just too far ahead of the striker much to the relief of United.
  • 33'
Lovely work by Baines to chase down a ball, pressuring Smalling into conceding a corner. It's whipped in by Mirallas, but the cross is poor as United can clear with ease. They try and kick start a counter but the pass forward for Nani runs too far and eventually rolls out of play.
  • 31'
Manchester United dominated the possession statistics early on, but it's quite misleading, as they've done little with their 63 percent as of yet. Everton defending admirably, keeping every United move to the outside. It may require a moment of brilliance to get the Red Devils level as it stands.
  • 29'
Well that certainly adds to the plot doesn't it?! The man David Moyes tried so hard to poach in the summer transfer window puts Manchester United a goal down, and Goodison Park has reached deafening levels!
  • 28'
    Penalty Goal Leighton Baines
GOOOOOOOOOOOAAL! Leighton Baines, who has never missed a Premier League penalty, keeps that record in tact, firing straight down the middle to beat De Gea. Everton in front!
  • 27'
    Yellow Card Phil Jones
  • 27'
PENALTY AWARDED TO EVERTON! Naismith and Lukaku break on a counter. The Belgian gets the ball, cuts onto his left and lets fly. Phil Jones tries to get a block in, sticks out his arm and concedes the penalty!
  • 25'
STAT ATTACK: The Red Devils are better on the road than at home this season, posting the league’s best away record, picking up 33 points from their 17 matches.
  • 23'
NAISMITH! Well that's much better from Everton! Lukaku brilliantly heads down a ball straight into the path of Naismith who hits his shot first time from the top of the box. He gets under it just a bit and it flies over the bar. With all the time and space he had, he needs to do better there.
  • 21'
Tough challenge in midfield as Carrick mistimes his tackle and takes the legs of Naismith out from under him. The Everton man goes down and a foul is given, but Carrick escapes without a warning and no one is the wiser.
  • 19'
APPEALS FOR HANDBALL NOT GIVEN! Coleman picks out Naismith with a lovely ball inside the box, and his redirect hits the arm of Evans who came sliding in. Mark Clattenburg is having none of it, and it's the right decision as the ball struck his arm from less than a couple feet away. There's nothing he could do to avoid that.
  • 17'
Coleman is having a blast out there! Kagawa and Buttner have given the right-back loads of space to get into attack and he's taking the utmost advantage of it. He streaks down the right and cuts into the centre, but sees his shot blocked by Evans and United break the other way.
  • 15'
Both teams struggling to find a way through in attack. Some sound defending from both teams has made it difficult to generate anything in terms of scoring chances through the opening 15 minutes. It's a bit of a chess match at the moment between David Moyes and his successor Roberto Martinez.
  • 13'
STAT ATTACK: With a victory here today, the Toffees can complete their first double over Manchester United in over 40 years. They last did so in the 1969-70 season.
  • 11'
Coleman just needed a better final ball! The right-back has looked so dangerous in the early going, working a little one-two with Lukaku. He charges full steam ahead into the box and tries to pick out Naismith in the centre, but his pass isn't accurate enough as United scramble clear.
  • 9'
FIRST CHANCE FALLS FOR EVERTON! Coleman finds plenty of space on the right and sends in a cross for Mirallas. It's cleared by Smalling but only as far as Barkley, who charges into the box but sends his volley well over the bar.
  • 7'
Manchester United enjoy some possession deep in Everton's end, but the Toffees are defending well, giving the visitors very little to work with. Nothing in terms of scoring chances, or even attempts on goal from either team thus far as they just get rid of these early game jitters.
  • 5'
Everton looked very lively in midfield in these opening moments, applying plenty of pressure on the Untied players which has led to a number of turnovers. The Toffees are eager to get forward but their passing has been less than sharp as they enter the final third.
  • 3'
WHAT AN ATMOSPHERE! The stadium is rocking as the players all look for a touch on the ball in the early moments. Can Everton feed off the energy of the home fans and pick up a massive victory here today?
  • 1'
Manchester United kick-off and we're underway at Goodison Park! The visitors, moving left to right, are sporting their red tops, with Everton in their home royal blue uniforms. Sit back, and enjoy the action. We should have quite the spirited affair on our hands today!
  • David Moyes finally makes his way out of the tunnel, and the boo birds rain down from the crowd! There is some clapping for the former Everton manager, but it's quite a mixed reaction, with the jeers drowning out those in applause.
  • David Moyes has rotated his squad quite a bit with Alex Buttner, Jonny Evans, Michael Carrick, Nani and Wayne Rooney back in the XI after missing the last league match against Newcastle. Meanwhile, Marouane Fellaini has to settle for a place on the bench as he takes on his former team.
  • Steven Pienaar and Phil Jagielka still aren't fit, while James McCarthy returns to the starting line-up. Steven Naismith gets the start, forcing Gerard Deulofeu to the bench.
  • MANCHESTER UNITED SUBS: Giggs, Lindegaard, Hernandez, Welbeck, Valencia, Fellaini, Januzaj.
  • MANCHESTER UNITED XI (4-2-3-1): De Gea; Jones, Smalling, Evans, Buttner; Carrick, Fletcher; Nani, Mata, Kagawa; Rooney.
  • EVERTON SUBS: Robles, Hibbert, McGeady, Deulofeu, Osman, Garbutt, Alcaraz.
  • EVERTON XI (4-2-3-1): Howard; Coleman, Stones, Distin, Baines; McCarthy, Barry; Naismith, Barkley, Mirallas; Lukaku.
  • The teams have been announced, so let us have ourselves a look at today's starting line-ups:
  • Manchester United have been preparing 11 days for this match, having not played since the second leg of their Champions League cup tie at Bayern Munich. David Moyes will have been in the ears of his players, getting them ready for this match – and they, likewise, will know how important this is for him. There are so many factors that have contributed to this rocky season for United, but as is often the case in football, the blame has fallen on the shoulders of the manager. There is still time to salvage a spot in the Europa League for the Red Devils, and they will be given a big boost by picking up three points today in Moyes' return to Goodison.
  • Everton still have dreams of of a top four finish - something David Moyes only managed once in his 11 years at Goodison. Their loss to Crystal Palace midweek certainly put a dent in their plans, but their goal of playing in Europe's most prestigious competition is alive and well. Arsenal's likely victory today means Everton will need three points to keep the pressure on the Gunners in their pursuit of the fourth and final Champions League spot.
  • What kind of reception will David Moyes get today from his former supporters? He did a marvellous job during his 11 years in Merseyside, but considering the success the Toffees have had under Roberto Martinez, and the magnitude of this match, it is very possible he could be walking a tightrope as he makes his way out of the tunnel. What about his purchase of Marouane Fellaini and his attempt to buy Leighton Baines, to do what he said was "best for the players"? The aforementioned left-back is having his best season to date under Roberto Martinez. Will that play a large part with the fans, or will they mostly remember his nine top-10 finishes? The one thing we know for sure is you won't want to miss Manchester United taking the pitch in less than 30 minute's time here at Goodison Park!
