The scoreline would have been much larger if it wasn't for the Almeria 'keeper, who made a string of excellent saves most notably from Ronaldo at his near post.
Almost cost his side dearly with a horribly misjudged pass back to Esteban, only to be bailed out by his goalkeeper. Was constantly caught out of defence but was pretty strong in the tackle.
Execution of the offside trap was pretty poor as he continually allowed players to run in in behind. Didn't really form a cohesive partnership with the rest of his defence.
Showed some attacking ambition down the right and displayed a pretty decent engine down the wing. However, shirked his defensive responsibilities at times and left his team open.
Was guilty of coming too narrow which allowed the Madrid wingers plenty of space on the wings. Gifted Gareth Bale his goal with a horrible touch off his shin inside his own box.
Stepped out of position at the wrong times as he looked to nick the ball away from the feet of the Madrid players, only to be foiled by their speed and pace.
Almost grabbed an equaliser for his side in the first half when he drilled a strike at goal from the edge of the box that was blocked by Arbeloa. Box to box play was decent.
Was one of the only Almeria players who showed grit and determination and who actually looked a threat going forward. Struck a few shots just wide and saw a decent strike saved by Diego Lopez.
Was employed just in front of the defence in an attempt to screen any balls through but did not provide any kind of barrier. Allowed Isco all the room in the world to cause problems.
Had very little support in the final third as his team-mates were all behind the ball. Drifted out of his central position to find the ball and had a few shots in frustration that never troubled Diego Lopez.
Almost scored the goal of the night when he cut in from the right-hand side and whipped a strike to the left corner that went just wide. Never kept up this level of danger consistently throughout the match, though.
Was basically a training session for the former Sevilla man. Was not taxed too much in terms of shot stopping but when called upon he got hid body behind the ball and looked completely dependable.
Didn't have too much too deal with as the lone striker for Almeria, Rodri, often drifted out of his central position to seek the ball. Went through the match without breaking a sweat and wasn't really involved in the action negatively or positively.
Was employed at left-back in tonight's match but arguably performed better than his usual space on the right. Constantly nicked and made interceptions and was solid defensively when dealing with Suso.
Was caught out of position a few times but this looked to be out of boredom as Madrid relentlessly pressed high up the park. Broke out of defence and was the catalyst for a few attacks, but earned a daft booking for a cynical deliberate handball.
Whipped a superb cross into the box for Madrid's goal and kept this trend up by bursting down the right-hand side dangerously. Attacking presence declined slightly in the second period, but was always available for a pass on the right.
Prospered in his position just behind Benzema and was constantly seeking out the ball in areas in the final third. Set up Bale's goal with an incisive pass through the middle and got on the scoresheet himself with an accurate strike that squeezes past Esteban.
Was the midfield general for Real Madrid and effortlessly sprayed balls out to the wings throughout the match. Instantly makes Los Blancos looks a better team and provides a wall of assurance in the middle of the park.
Looked to play a lot better in his deep midfield position with less pressure on him to create from these areas due to the presence of Xabi Alonso. Confidently strutted forward and his passes into tight areas were right on the mark.
Relentlessly pressed the Almeria defence in the first few minutes of the match but dropped off slightly as the match progressed. However, linked up well with the other attackers and netted the second with a superb finish into the corner from the edge of the box.
Was guilty of trying too hard throughout the match and attempted a few shots when other players where in better positions. However, improved in the second half and grabbed the third for Madrid when he latched on to Dubarbier's mistake to slot home.
Continued his stunning recent form by netting the opener with an acutely taken finish into the bottom corner. Looked dangerous during his time on the pitch but worryingly had to be withdrawn with injury early on in the second half.
Was excellent after coming on his deep position and was unlucky not to score when he struck the post from the edge of the area.
Looked bright after coming on and was dangerous down that left-hand side.
Netted the fifth goal with an audaciously taken finish over the 'keeper.
