Chris Brunt has already been ruled out for the Baggies having had his tonsils removed, while Jerome Thomas remains a doubt for the game after contracting flu. However, Peter Odemwingie should be available for selection after missing the game with Bolton with a hamstring problem.

Meanwhile, Theo Walcott could come off the bench for the Gunners as he continues to recover from a hamstring problem. However, Bacary Sagna has been ruled out of both this game and of Euro 2012 after fracturing his fibula against Norwich in Arsenal’s last game.

  • This game will be Roy Hodgson’s last in charge of West Brom before becoming England manager.
  • Baggies midfielder Jerome Thomas (pictured right) began his career at Arsenal, but failed to break into the first team due to the consistency of Freddie Ljungberg and Robert Pires, and left in 2004 for Charlton Athletic.
  • In the Premier League, West Brom have lost just once in their last six games, while Arsenal have gone without a win in their last four games.
  • West Brom’s biggest victory over Arsenal at the Hawthorns came on October 14th 1922, as they won 7-0 and finished three points ahead of the Gunners in the First Division table in seventh place.
  • The previous game between these two teams was in November, and saw Arsenal run out comfortable 3-0 winners at the Emirates thanks to goals from Robin van Persie, Thomas Vermaelen and Mikel Arteta.
  • Last season, West Brom went unbeaten against the Gunners, thanks to a 3-2 victory at the Emirates and a 2-2 draw at the Hawthorns having taken a 2-0 lead before being pegged back by goals from Andrei Arshavin and van Persie.
  • This game will be Arsene Wenger’s 600th in the Premier League as Arsenal manager.
  • Arsenal’s biggest win ever at the Hawthorns came on January 30 1935, when they enjoyed a comfortable 3-0 win on their way to winning the First Division for the third season in a row.
  • Arsenal have not lost on the last day of the season since 2005, when they were defeated 2-1 by Birmingham City thanks to second-half goals from Walter Pandiani and Emile Heskey either side of a strike from Dutchman Dennis Bergkamp.
  • Robin van Persie has hit the woodwork the most of all players in the Premier League, finding either the post or bar 10 times in total.
