Well that's it from us folks. I'm Luke Matthews and I hope you enjoyed the final as much as me. Barca were scintillating in the early stages and were good value for their 3-0 victory as a Pedro double and Lionel Messi's 73rd goal of the season earned Pep Guardiola a perfect swansong.

That of course also spells the end to the domestic campaign in Spain but do not fret, we're within touching distance of Euro 2012! Make sure you stay with us over the next six weeks for all of the action in Poland and Ukraine ...it's gonna be a good 'un!

Well, have a good evening people and stick with Goal.com for all the post-match reaction. Buenas Noches!

Before we wrap up our LIVE! coverage of tonight's Copa del Rey final, time for a few more of your thoughts.

Simon Agrezzi says: "Commiserations to Athletic Bilbao. They have been one of the most entertaining sides to watch this season and their brand of football deserved a trophy. It's just a shame that Barca and Pep also deserved to win tonight."

Kishen Patel has Tweeted: "More needs to be made that Messi has just finished the season on 73 goals! I don't even think he could top that again, nevermind anyone else!"

As you can imagine, it's pretty tricky to get any reactions from the Barcelona players and Pep Guardiola at the moment due to their partying yet we can now hear from Marcelo Bielsa, who lost his second final 3-0 in a month.

"I think sometimes you can neutralise the play of a team like Barcelona but today, this just was not possible."

Some thoughts streaming in now from our social media networks and Mohammed Alten says: "Stunning performance from Barca today to give Guardiola what he deserved, a final trophy. 14 trophies in four years will never be bettered."

Kris Anton agrees: "It almost feels like an end of an era despite a number of Barca's stars yet to reach the peaks of their talent. Hopefully Tito will be a calming influence and hopefully they can make some decent signings this summer."

A few more comments from Sandro Rosell now who as you can imagine, wanted to pay tribute to the outgoing Pep Guardiola.

"It was an end to honour the best coach in the history of the club. Tito will continue the legacy."

23:33 WAT

A few words now from Barcelona president, Sandro Rosell who was keen to commend Athletic Bilbao for their efforts tonight.

"First of all I congratulate Athletic, a club that we all have to learn from. Today, Barcelona played better."

Touching gesture from the Barcelona players who have draped Eric Abidal's shirt over the trophy. The Frenchman underwent a liver transplant last month and was unable to travel to Madrid tonight as he is still recovering.

Did you know?

So here are Pep Guardiola's achievements as Barcelona coach in numbers: 14 titles won out of a possible 19, 179 victories, 47 draws, 21 defeats, 642 goals scored and 181 conceded.

Now we can hear from our Spanish football editor, Ben Hayward, on his thoughts on Barca's Copa del Rey success tonight.

"The script was written. It all started for Pep Guardiola with victory over Athletic Bilbao in the 2009 final, and it has ended for the Barca boss with triumph against the Basques three years later. An incredible 14 trophies have been accumulated by the club's most successful coach ever.

"Tonight their performance was reminiscent of their most memorable nights and as only he could, Pep has signed off in some style."

Athletic Bilbao 0-3 Barcelona: Pedro double and Messi clinch Copa del Rey and offer Guardiola fitting finale

23:11 WAT

Interestingly, Carles Puyol carried Catalan and Basque flags around the pitch on the lap of honour. I'm sure Real Madrid will love that. Not.

23:10 WAT

The Barcelona fans are now doing their lap of honour to thank their army of supporters who have been singing along to Queen's "We are the Champions" for the past few minutes. There's going to be a party in Madrid and Barcelona this evening!

23:06 WAT

Now it's time for the official squad pictures with the trophy as ticker tape in Barca's traditional red and blue colours flies everywhere. There seems to be plenty of Athletic Bilbao supporters still in the stadium, despite their obvious disappointment.

23:04 WAT

XAVI LIFTS THE COPA DEL REY TROPHY! The Barca players are in the stands and the playmaker lifts the trophy as captain on the night. Carles Puyol is there too but doesn't fancy climbing on the ledge with his dodgy knee. Alexis Sanchez carries the cup back down to the pitch.

23:00 WAT

The Athletic Bilbao players are now in the stands receiving their loser's medals as Ashish Sharma is on hand to give us a few more words.

"David Villa is also out there on the pitch being warmly greeted by all his team-mates. And now shouts of Messi, Messi ring out. Sounds like the Camp Nou on any given weekend when Barca are playing at home."

22:56 WAT

Our man in Spain tells me Pep Guardiola looks particularly close to Thiago Alcantara, a player of course he helped bring through the ranks at Camp Nou and who surely has a massive future at Barcelona. Carles Puyol, who missed tonight with a knee injury. shows his class by going around all the Athletic Bilbao players commiserating with them.

22:53 WAT

It seems tonight is all about Pep Guardiola. Every one of the Barca technical staff and the players congratulate the Catalan trainer who will of course step down from his coaching position this summer. The players said they wanted to win the Copa del Rey for their outgoing boss and they duly delivered.

22:51 WAT

An update on the full-time whistle for our man at the Vicente Calderon tonight, Ashish Sharma.

"Huge celebrations for Barcelona near the centre circle. Puyol leaps so high onto Pique he almost knocks him right off his feet backwards. Generous applause from the Athletic fans too."

FULL-TIME: Athletic Bilbao 0-3 Barcelona (BARCELONA WIN THE COPA DEL REY!)

The Catalan giants may not have won La Liga or the Champions League this season yet the claim their fourth trophy of the campaign with a comfortable victory over their Basque counterparts. The game was over at the break with the Blaugrana starting the game with superb intensity and skill. Deserved.
