Sint-Truiden want permanent Chuba Akpom stay

Belgian side Sint-Truiden want to make Chuba Akpom loan stay with them permanent.

The 22-year-old joined the Stayen Stadium outfit from English Premier League side Arsenal temporarily during the January transfer window and has hit the ground running.

The forward scored his first goal of the season in a spectacular form - a superb run and long-range drive which was enough to secure his side maximum victory over Anderlecht in Friday’s Belgian First Division A encounter.

And, though, the assistant manager Chris O’Loughlin acknowledged that it might be too early for any discussion on the striker with Arsenal, he hinted that the Canaries will want to secure the signature of the former Brighton and Hove Albion player permanently.

“We exclude nothing, but everything depends on Arsenal,” O’Loughlin told Het Belang van Limburg.

“I don’t think they are ready to answer about their plans for Chuba next season. It is too early for that.”

The youngster will be looking to continue the fine start when Sint-Truiden travel to Versluys Arena to lock horns with KV Oostende on Saturday.
