Qatar Stars League: Jesualdo Ferreira insists Al Sadd deserved narrow win

Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira feels that his side fully deserves the 3-2 over Al-Sailiya after the performance they put up during the Stars League Round 2 match.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Ferreira said: “It was a tough match, just as I said before the match. Al-Sailiya are a strong team and they have excellent players. We were the better side in the match. The referee wrongly disallowed a goal for us in the first half. As for Al-Sailiya’s penalty, I did not see it properly and I won’t make a judgement. The win was a difficult one but we fully deserve it.”

As for Al-Sadd’s decline during the last few minutes, he said: “This is the second match we have played with some players missing out. We are looking to have the players gel well with each other in defence and this will happen as we play the upcoming matches, especially after the break when the team will be at its best.”

Asked about Al-Sailiya’s disallowed goal at the end of the game, Ferreira said: “I did not see what happened with that and I don’t know why the goal was cancelled.”

Ferreira concluded by saying: “There are many young players in Al-Sadd and I am happy to have them here in this group. There are players who need to be better physically. Al-Sadd will return when there will be a balance between physical and mental condition. After the break, the team will be better.”
