Marseille share gruesome Cabella injury pic after Monaco defeat

Marseille's hopes of closing the gap at the top of the Ligue 1 table suffered a blow on Sunday as Monaco romped to a 4-1 victory.

Former Newcastle United attacker Remy Cabella spurned a great opportunity in the first-half to help his side back into the game, but saw his evening get even worse when he was forced off injury before the hour mark.

With Marseille trailing by three goals, the 26-year-old was taken off after a heavy challenge from Djibril Sidibe left him needing stitches.

The club's official Twitter account shared a photo of Cabella's gruesome injury after the game, showing seven stitches just above his foot.

The victory saw Monaco move up to top spot, but Marseille are now 15 points adrift of the summit back in sixth position.
