Robbie Keane ATK ISL 4ISL

ISL 2017-18: ATK assistant coach Bastab Roy coy on rumours linking Robbie Keane with a return to England

Defending Indian Super League (ISL) champions ATK find themselves in the lowly seventh spot in the table with just nine points from their seven games so far. As such, The Kolkata outfit will have it all to do when they take on Bengaluru FC at the Sree Kanteerava stadium on Sunday.

Teddy Sheringham’s men have won just two fixtures so far this season and have been winless in their last four matches.

Sheringham’s assistant coach Bastab Roy was coy about his team’s preparation for Sunday’s tie and refused to rule out ATK’s chances of making the last-four in an ‘unpredictable’ ISL.

"This league is very unpredictable and it is too early to say that we have lost hope. It will be decided in the last one or two games," he said at the pre-match press-conference in Bengaluru.

“The team has some plans (for Bengaluru),” he added.

While Roy confirmed that the entire squad had travelled to Benglauru, speculation remains rife about the future of star-striker Robbie Keane with English Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers said to be interested in securing the signature of the Irishman.

Keane had started his footballing career with the English side and is reportedly a top priority for manager Nuno Gomes in the winter-transfer window as he bids to secure promotion for the Wolves.

Roy deflected the query on the topic by saying it was not for him to answer on the links.

"Keane is the right person to answer this," the ATK assistant coach stated before signing off.
