Everton are chasing Robert Zulj, who is one of Bundesliga 2's star players, and they can get him for free with his Greuther Furth contract expiring in the summer.

Zulj has six goals and two assists in his 22 games for the struggling side this season and Everton believe that the Austrian has the quality to step up to Premier League level.

The Toffees could lose both Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley in the summer but the club remain ambitious after they revealed plans to build a new stadium.

They are looking for a combination of big name and cheaper signings in the summer transfer window.

Zulj is free to talk to clubs with his contract expiring and Everton could make the ex-Red Bull Salzburg player their first signing of the summer.

A former youth international, Zulj is on the verge of making his Austria debut and operates primarily as an attacking midfielder but he can also operate in a deeper role or up front.
