Celtic's Brendan Rodgers pleased with two-goal hero Dembele

Brendan Rodgers has showered encomium on Moussa Dembele following his impressive showing in their 3-0 victory over Greenock Morton in Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final tie.

The French-born Malian got a brace as Celtic cruised to the competition's last four and they face would be hoping to reach final in a bid to defend their title.

After the first half ended scoreless, the 21-year-old drew in the first blood in the 62nd minute before completing his double nine minutes later from the penalty spot.

Inspired by his performance, the former Liverpool manager has expressed his satisfaction with the display by the former Fulham player.

“I think you can see Moussa has that hunger back to score,” Rodgers told media after the game.

“In the second half, like the rest of the team, he was much better.

“It was a good header. He got himself in a position freely in the box for the cross and then he had the composure. The link-up play was much better and that bit of combination play got us the penalty.

“He was unfortunate the ball wouldn’t quite sit for him in the second half a couple of times to get his hat-trick but he’s on form and has shown his qualities, so I’m pleased with him and he’s worked very well."

The forward has now scored 12 goals in 30 appearances for the Bhoys this season, and he will be eyeing another fine display when Celtic take on Rangers in their next league game on March 11.
