Arsenal and Liverpool-linked Insigne 'plays like Roberto Baggio'

Roberto Insigne insists recent performances from brother Lorenzo at Napoli have been deserving of comparisons to the great Roberto Baggio.

A brace in that fixture saw Insigne inspire another success for Napoli and highlight why he continues to be linked with some of Europe’s top clubs.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool are said to be keeping a close eye on his situation, with reports suggesting that contract extension talks have broken down with the forward.

Were he to become available then there would be no shortage of interest, with the 25-year-old’s brother of the opinion that Insigne boasts qualities similar to those showcased by Juventus and Milan legend Baggio over the course of a glittering career.

Roberto Insigne, who is currently on loan at Latina from Napoli, told Radio Kiss Kiss: “For us it was a perfect Sunday with the victory of Napoli and two goals from Lorenzo.

“His performances are no longer a surprise to us.

“Comparisons with Baggio? Indeed his goal yesterday reminds me of the ‘Divine Ponytail’.

Who's received the most CL penalties?

“Lorenzo has grown so much, it should be acknowledged that [Maurizio] Sarri is a coach who has helped him a lot.”

Insigne remains contracted to Napoli until the summer of 2019, so any move for his services would come at a considerable cost.

Reports have claimed that his Serie A employers would be looking for around £44 million before even considering entering into transfer talks.
