'Another good manager!' - Guardiola hails new Arsenal boss Emery

Pep Guardiola believes Unai Emery will further enhance the Premier League following his appointment as Arsenal manager.

The Gunners confirmed the appointment of the former PSG boss on Wednesday, the club having had a last minute change of heart regarding the potential hire of former midfielder Mikel Arteta.

Emery's appointment has somewhat polarised supporters, but Manchester City manager Guardiola believes that his fellow Spaniard has an outstanding CV.

Indeed, the 46-year-old has won the Europa League three times with Sevilla, and Ligue 1 with PSG, along with two Coupe de France, two Trophees des Champions, and two Coupe de la Ligue trophies.

"[Emery is a] top manager. His career speaks for itself," Guardiola told reporters, per Sky Sports. "He did it perfectly in Spain with many teams - Valencia, Sevilla - and he did really well in France.

"So, welcome to England. Another good manager is coming here."

Emery has faced Guardiola 10 times in his managerial career, but has never won, drawing four and losing six matches.

He has also failed to defeat Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho in five meetings, recording just one draw.

It remains to be seen if Emery can bridge the gap to the Manchester clubs, with Arsenal finishing a staggering 37 points behind champions City, and 18 points behind second-placed United in Arsene Wenger's final season at the club.
