AFC Cup 2018: Group Stage Matchday Three Preview: West Zone

The AFC Cup 2018 is all set to enter the third matchday in the West Zone. Here is a look at what awaits us this week: 


GROUP A:

Malkiya Club (BHR) v Air Force Club (IRQ)

Holders Air Force Club of Iraq will be looking to recrod back-to-back wins when they travel away to take on Malkiya Club of Bahrain on Monday. They defeated Al Suwaiq 1-0 in the previous game and will welcome back goalkeeper Fahad Talib from suspension as they look to go clear at the top. Malkiya, who have three points from two games, won't be easy fodder though.

Al Suwaiq (OMA) v Al Jazeera (JOR): 

Group A leaders Jordan's Al Jazeera are away to Oman's Al Suwaiq on Monday. Al Jazeera are coming off a 1-0 win over Malkiya and will be looking to go clear at the top of the group with a win over struggling Al Suwaiq. The Omani club are without a point so far and need to win at home against Al Jazeera or see their hopes of progressing vanish considerably.

GROUP B:


Al-Ahed AFC CUPLagardère Sports

Al Ahed (LIB) v Al Jaish (SYR)

Lebanon's Al Ahed hosts Syria's Al Jaish on Tuesday in an intriguing AFC Cup clash. Al Ahed, with a draw and a win from their opening two games, are the group leaders and will be looking to extend their advantage at the top with a win over the third-placed Al Jaish. The Syrian side are yet to score a goal and have been involved in two successive goalless draws. 

Venue: Sports City Stadium, Beirut
Kick-off: March 6, 15:00 UTC+2

P.S:  The match between second-placed Al Zawraa and Manama has been rescheduled to April 16. 


GROUP C: 


Dhofar (Oman) Vs Al Faisaly (Jordan) @ AFC CUPGoal.com/arabian

Al Wahda (SYR) v Al Ansar (LIB): 

Syrian side Al Wahda, last year's West Zone runners-up, are up against Lebanese side Al Ansar on Monday. Al Ansar, placed second in the group with three points will give Al Wahda, who have drawn both their games so far, a tough game as both teams look to net vital points.

Al Faisaly (JOR) v Dhofar Club (OMA): 

Group leaders Al Faisaly club are at home to stragglers Dhofar club from Oman on Monday. After a win over Al Ansar last week, Al Faisaly will be favourites to beat Dhofar and extend their lead atop the table. Dhofar currently prop up the table and are yet to score a goal in the touranment.
