AFC Cup 2018: ASEAN Zonal final review - 2nd leg

Singapore's Home United have won the ASEAN Zonal final after a 3-1 aggregate win over Philippine's Ceres Negros on Wednesday.

After a 1-1 draw in the first leg in the Philippines, Home United were at their best at home as they prevailed 2-0 over Ceres, thanks to second-half goals from Shakir Hamzah and Song Ui-young.

The visitors, needing to score a goal, started the brighter of the two teams on the night with Carli de Murga heading just wide from Stephan Schrock’s free-kick in the fourth minute.

Ceres’ Spanish defender Súper then saw his diving header smash off the crossbar as the visitors pushed hard to find the opening goal.

But they could not do so before the half ended and Home United punished them for it.

Just after the hour mark, Shakir leapt over the top of a couple of Ceres defenders to head home Izzdin Shafiq’s corner, much to the delight of the home crowd. 15 minutes later, they secured the win as Faritz Abdul Hameed’s cross from the right found an unmarked Song wide open in the box and he made no mistake.

Home United now face North Korea's 4.25 SC in the Inter-Zonal semifinals.
