Selangor 1-0 LionsXII
In truth, this was as dour a match as it could come. Both teams hardly got into their 2nd gears, let alone show any sort of dominance in the match.
The Red Giants got their early goal and was able to sit back and soak up the pressure from the Lions. Even though the attacks weren't much, one man in Selangor's defence deserves plaudits for a good night's work.
Shahrom Kalam had the unenviable task of marking Sufian Anuar who tormented Pahang's defence last week. The former Perak centre back did not disappoint.
Shahrom was constantly putting himself in good positions, never once caught leaving his man behind. His good organisational skills also ensured that Selangor's kept their shape and deny Lions XII the opportunity any attempts at Farizal's goal.
The latest national call-ups didn't have Shahrom's name on it but if he keeps this up, the national selectors can't him any longer.
