Anfield glowed with emotions today and rightly so. It wasn't just a victory over Manchester City, it was a win that pulled them one step closer towards the league title. And when the final whistle was blown, the sight of Steven Gerrard breaking into tears depicts the level of hunger within them to make this happen.

But as far as today was concerned, Raheem Sterling was perhaps the star of the game. He was a constant threat all throughout the game, and caused so much of trouble for the shaky City defence.

His pace was an added advantage as well, offering Liverpool plenty of dynamism during the game. And it was visible from the offset as Sterling opened the scoring with a terrific finish. More importantly, the finish had plenty of composure in it as well.

But the youngster isn't just about his attacking prowess either; Sterling was equally comitted in doing his defensive duties whenever needed. In fact, he cleared off the line at one point in the game, when Liverpool were still leading 2-0.

Performances like these will not only further enhance Liverpool's chances of bagging the league title, but it will also benefit him individually. Roy Hodgson will be keeping a very close eye on him, as his current form seems to be justifying a starting berth.
