Izham Tarmizi, JDT’s number one goalkeeper, is not concerned with the form of fellow keeper Al-Hafiz Hamzah, who slowly is starting to gain the confidence to be the number one goalkeeper.

According to Izham, he feels there is no competition in grabbing the main goalkeeper spot and he is leaving it to head coach Bojan Hodak to decide.

Speaking to Harian Metro, Izham said “It does not matter who will be the goalie, because we are holding on to a team spirit in ensuring victory in every game. Al-Hafiz is an experienced goalkeeper and he always helps me and shares with me techniques.”

Izham also said that under goalkeeping coach Antonio Sadic, Al-Hafiz, Norazlan Razali and he are being trained to work as a team.

“Whatever it is I’ll let the coach decide whether I’ll be playing or not, and we have to give our full commitment during training not for ourselves,” he added.

Commenting on the Malaysia Cup group draw, Izham said being placed in the Group C is really going to make life very difficult for JDT.

He is also wary of the likes of ATM, who defeated them in the Super League, and admitted that The Gladiators are unpredictable with their style of play.

JDT have been tipped to win the Malaysia Cup, but have to go through a tough group stage first, as they are pitted against last year’s finalists, east-coast giant Kelantan, ATM, and Premier League Penang.
