Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) may use some of their players who warmed the bench during for the Malaysia Super League for the Malaysia Cup campaign, said coach Bojan Hodak.
For the past few friendly matches Bojan has given chances to players such as Azizi Mat Rose, Irfan Fazail and Kamarul Afiq, and the Croatian has said that he will give chances for players who have performed and trained well.
According to Harian Metro, Bojan said “I am very open and will give chances to all players. As long as they work hard, they will always be in the main squad. There are few weaknesses I can see, I have to admit that training in Ramadhan did affect them, but I’m sure they’ll get back to their top fitness soon.”
Bojan also said that he let Irfan play for a whole 90 minutes to give him exposure before the Malaysia Cup campaign kicks off 13th of August.
“I purposely did not sub out him because I want to see his level of performance in controlling the midfield and clearly he did well. However he still needs to work on his fitness. Kamarul Afiq, who recently came back from injury, also played well,” added Bojan.
JDT have been placed in the same group as Kelantan, ATM and Penang for the Malaysia Cup and are tipped as one of the favourites to win the title.
However, President of Johor Football Association Tunku Ismail recently admitted that he did not have high targets for the team in the Malaysia Cup.
