Pahang midfielder Azamuddin Akil has insisted that Pahang still crave for glory and they will do whatever it takes to retain the Malaysia Cup trophy.

Azamuddin, who is also known as Alex, stated that all the players are currently working hard in training, and he also believes that all the teams in Group A have an equal chance of advancing to the next round.

Quoted from Harian Metro, Alex said “When you are amongst the top eight, I believe we can go further ahead, because in my opinion all the teams in this group have a good chance to qualify. As the defending champions, we want to make sure we continue to be in top form and stop our opponents from winning points from us.”

Commenting on the current situation, Alex explained that all his teammates are training hard despite being in fasting month, especially in improving their fitness and understanding.

“We hope the players can be in top form, because defending the trophy is much harder than actually hunting for one,” added Alex.

Pahang have been placed in the same group as Lions XII, Premier League runners up Felda United and JDT II in the Group A.

Pahang, who have won both FA Cup and the Sumbangsih Cup this season, are hoping to defend the trophy they won last year by beating Kelantan 1-0 courtesy of a Matias Conti goal.
