The national chief of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar, said that over 40,000 to 50,000 supporters from both teams had entered the stadium to watch the final, and he insisted that the policemen at work were more than enough observe the security and the safety issues around the stadium.
In a press conference at Yan Police Headquarters, Tan Sri Khalid had highlighted: "I reminded both sets of fans to not do anything that can cause a disturbance, or bring in any illegal items into the stadium."
During the game, there were a numbers of supporters who reportedly entered the stadium using fake tickets as the original tickets had sold out earlier than expected.
There were also flares that were lit and firecrackers that were thrown inside the stadium, something that the authorities had warned about before the game.
In a tense final, Pahang defeated Kelantan 1-0 and sent their fans wild ending the 21-year Malaysia Cup drought.
