The respective teams’ personnel shared their thoughts after Myanmar gave an inspired showing against favorites Vietnam

A Kyi-Lin inspired Myanmar came back from a goal down to steal a point against Vietnam, much to the surprise of many. The Burmese side who had made the tournament only after a gruelling qualifying process found themselves matching one of the tournament favourites and even threatened to steal a win late in the game.

Speaking to the media after the match, Tin Mint Aunt, the Myanmar Team Manager said: "Thanks to the players. The team was very tired but it was a great performance. I am very happy about the result."

He went on to commend his young star, Kyi Lin, for a Man-of-the-Match performance adding: "Kyi Lin was the best today. He is young and he created a lot of chances, Our playing style is defending and counterattacking. Kyi Lim could penetrate through the Vietnam defense, and I really respect him."

"We were compact in defense, like a wall. So we could play counterattack."

Vietnam's Assistant Coach Hoang Anh Tuan on the other hand conceded that the pitch and weather conditions had a hand in the draw.

"Field and weather today were very adverse for our team, and when we conceded it affected our mentality a bit," he said.

"We can't lose to Thailand in the next game if we want to get in the last game with a chance to qualify.

"But drawing in the opening game happens. In football sometimes one can make mistakes, and my players did some tonight, but that is normal."

Myanmar will take on hosts Thailand for their next match, while Vietnam will be up against 2010 semi-finalists Philippines.
