Team Profile: Singapore

Judging by the recent friendly against Pakistan, Singapore is likely to field a 4-2-3-1 formation for AFFSC 2012, with Hariss Harun and Mustafic Fahrudin anchoring, and three attackers (Shahdan Sulaiman, Shahril Ishak and Shi Jiayi) supporting the evergreen Aleksandar Duric in attack. Often resorting to long balls, coach Raddy has been attempting to install a short passing game, albiet with limited success.

Shahril Ishak Aleksandar Duric Baihakki Khaizan
The 28-year-old is Singapore's captain and one of their most skilful players. Has had a good season with the LionsXII and was their top scorer. Can play as a striker and on the wing as well, but sometimes goes missing in big matches. The 42-year-old naturalised Singaporean remains one of the best forwards in the region despite his age. Makes for a good focal point up-front thanks to his height and strength, and is easily capable of finding the back of the net on a regular basis. The stylish 'Bai' makes defending seem easy at times with his assured reading of the game, although his lack of pace can be exploited. The 28-year-old has had a good season for the LionsXII and will look to carry on his fine form into the AFF Cup.

Raddy Avramovic
The darling of the local public after successive championship wins in 2004 and 2007, the Serbian tactician is facing the toughest period of his nine-year reign. An inability to introduce fresh new blood into the team has been Raddy's key downfall, with his reluctance to up stellar S.League performers such as Jamil Ali and Ahmad Latiff baffling to the public. Despite already announcing his stepping-down after the tournament, Raddy has indicated he is 'focused' on this current task on hand.
