No bonuses have been offered to the Vietnam national squad for the upcoming Suzuki Cup as the country's football authority feels players should be playing for national pride

The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) on Wendesday revealead that it has not offered its national team any incentive for their performance in the upcoming AFF Suzuki Cup.

VFF chairman Nguyen Hong Hy expects the Vietnam team to fight for the title in the biennial tournament, even though the squad has not been promised any incentives for their showing.

"Playing for the national team is the responsibility and honour of every player," Nguyen told local media. "There may be rewards [after the tournament], but there is no promise to give bonus for the national team at the upcoming AFF Cup."

Despite refusing to provide the squad with incentives, Nguyen maintained that the squad will be well-taken care of during the tournament, and given adequate meals and accomodation.

Vietnam won their last two matches against Laos and Malaysia, but have no more international friendlies scheduled before they kick off their AFFSC campaign against Myanmar on November 24 in Bangkok.
