Secretary General of the FAM moves to allay fears that the National Stadium would not available for the AFF Suzuki Cup finals
The National Stadium in Bukit Jalil will be ready in time to host the final round of the AFF Suzuki Cup next month, the Secretary General of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), Datuk Azzudin Ahmad has confirmed.
He gave this assurance at the 6th AFF Council meeting (for session 2011-2015) in Yangon, yesterday.
“The National Stadium will be ready and I would like to give the AFF council the assurance that we are ready to host the AFF Suzuki Cup,” Azzuddin convinced the council members.
Concerns over the newly re-laid pitch’s readiness to host matches were raised after the Malaysia Cup final, initially scheduled to be played at the venue, was moved to the Shah Alam Stadium.
Elsewhere, the Malaysian national team manager, Datuk Subahan Kamal, told Harian Metro that the Thai national team had agreed to play the Malayan Tigers in a friendly match on November 7, in Chiang Mai.
“They’ve given their confirmation and for me this would be good for our preparation because Thailand is still one of the best teams in this region.”
