The poster boys of Philippine football, Phil and James Younghusband are back in the frame for November’s AFF Suzuki Cup after being included in the Azkals squad for an 11-day training camp in Bahrain.
The Younghusbands, were pivotal figures of the national team set-up that reached semi-finals of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2010.
“After careful consideration, the management has decided to include Phil and James Younghusband in this training camp,” said team manager Dan Palami in a statement on the AFF Suzuki Cup website.
The Philippines beat Guam, Macau and Chinese Taipei to seal a successful Peace Cup campaign without the brothers. It was the inaugural silverware for the Azkals.
Philippines will train in Bahrain from October 7 to 17 and have fixed up games against the country’s national team on October 12 and Kuwait four days later.
ADO Den Haag midfielder Paul Mulders, Jerry Lucena of Danish side Esbjerg, MSV Duisburg goalkeeper Roland Muller and former Hannover 96 striker, Denis Wolf are also listed in the 26 man squad.
