The Amsterdam giants have allegedly earmarked the Finland international as the perfect replacement for Jan Vertonghen, who is expected to leave the club this summerNiklas Moisander has attracted the interest of Ajax following a string of impressive performances for AZ in the 2011-12 campaign and could be on the move in the summer transfer window, De Telegraaf reports.
Ajax are in the market for a new centre-back due to the expected departure of Jan Vertonghen at the end of the season, and the Eredivisie champions see Moisander as the perfect replacement.
The 26-year-old defender has a contract with AZ until the summer of 2014, but Ajax are hopeful of luring the centre-back away from Alkmaar ahead of the 2012-13 campaign.
Moisander previously played at the Amsterdam giants from 2003 to 2006, but never made it into the first team. However, he has since developed into one of the best defenders in the Eredivisie in recent years, and Ajax are keen to re-sign him.
Meanwhile, Godenzonen are also closely monitoring the situation of NEC playmaker Lasse Schone. The Denmark international has an expiring contract at his current club, and has previously been linked with Schalke and Twente.
Additionally, Heerenveen winger Luciano Narsingh remains a transfer target for Ajax. The Eredivisie leaders missed out on the attacker in the winter transfer window, but are expected to launch another bid this summer.
