Mlapa: Favre assured me he will remain Monchengladbach manager

The new signing has told fans that the sought-after coach will remain at the club, despite reported interest from die Roten

New Borussia Monchengladbach signing Peniel Mlapa says that coach Lucien Favre will not leave the club this summer, despite speculation that he is set to take the reins at Bayern Munich.

Since losing the finals of the Champions League and the DFB-Pokal, and finishing behind Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga, rumours have circulated that Jupp Heynckes would be replaced in Bavaria by Favre.

But Mlapa, who signed for Gladbach for €3 million, has assured fans that Favre told him personally that he will remain with the club.

"Of course, I heard the rumors that Favre may leave" he told IMAGE, "I asked him, and he has assured me that he will stay here as the manager next season."

Gladbach finished fourth in the Bundesliga this season, and will play off for a place in the Champions League group stages.
