The prolific striker has insisted that it is crucial to continue winning in order to maintain high morale, while Christian Nerlinger added FCB will not lose focusMario Gomez has stressed that it was important for Bayern Munich to beat Stuttgart in Saturday's Bundesliga encounter in order to keep form ahead of the DFB Pokal final against Borussia Dortmund on May 12, and the Champions League final versus Chelsea seven days later.
Goals from the 26-year-old and Thomas Muller helped the Bavarians to a 2-0 home win, and the prolific striker felt they fully deserved their victory.
"We were the better and more lively team, which is why we deserved to win – and winning was important," Gomez was quoted as saying on the club's official website.
"The fact that we played on Wednesday didn’t show. We played very well as a team. We’ll keep giving it everything until the end of the season."
Sporting director Christian Nerlinger complimented Bayern for staying focused, and added that the Bavarians will continue to take things seriously in their last league game.
"Yet again, we were totally focused, and the players who haven’t played much recently have again come in and shown they’re up to it, because we’ve comfortably beaten VfB. We took our job seriously, and the same can be expected of us again next week."
Bayern's last Bundesliga match of the 2011-12 campaign is away against Koln on May 5.
