Manchester City target Javi Garcia only leaving Benfica for £24m, insists club president

The Spain international has reportedly caught the attention of Roberto Mancini, but will not be available on the cheap this summer after signing a new six-year deal in March
Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira has stressed that the Portuguese giants have no intention of letting go of Javi Garcia for anything less than his €30 million [£23.8m] buy-out clause.

The midfielder has recently been linked with a move to Manchester City, but the Premier League champions will not get their man on the cheap.

"Javi will only leave if a club matches his buy-out clause. This figure is non-negotiable," the Benfica president stated to reporters.

The 25-year-old midfielder joined Benfica from Real Madrid in the summer of 2009, and has since developed into a key player for the Lisbon giants.

Javi Garcia inked a new deal with Benfica until the summer of 2018 back in March.
