Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud is confident that France will enjoy a successful Euro 2012 campaign.

Les Bleus have been in impressive form since Laurent Blanc took over as national team coach, and Giroud feels that the team have the quality to challenge the best sides in the competition.

"We're capable of great things. We've beaten great footballing nations. We got a slight scare against Iceland [on Monday], but we showed our character," Giroud was quoted as saying on the Fifa website.

"There are things that need to be worked on, but there are good things. We just have to find the right balance, and to be calm defensively."

Giroud then confessed that he and his team-mates are eager to go head to head with England in their Group D opener in order to gauge their potential for the rest of the championship.

"We can't wait for the competition to start and to clash with the English," he added. "We're impatient to measure ourselves against them and to see if we're capable of getting out of this tight group."

France take on England on June 11 in their Euro 2012 opener, before facing Ukraine four days later, and Sweden on June 19.
