The 2012 Caf Confederation Cup group draw took an interesting and unprecedented turn as all three of Sudan's representatives, Al-Hilal, Al-Merreikh, and Al-Ahli Shendi were drawn together in Group A alongside Angola's Inter Luanda.
It is the first time in Caf interclub competitions history that three teams from the same country will face each other in the group stage. It also is the first time that Sudan has three clubs in such advanced stages of an African club competition.
The unusual draw means that the Sudanese sides will each save a great deal of money on travel expenses while the Angolans will become very much accustomed with the flight from Luanda to Khartoum.Meanwhile, Group B features two clubs from Mali in Stade Malien and Djoliba. The rest of the group is rounded out by Congo's AC Leopards and Morocco's Wydad Casablanca.
