The Italian legend, currently at A-League club Sydney FC, has been linked with a move to Thai Premier League side PTT Rayong in recent weeks
The 39-year-old Sydney FC captain was linked with a move from the A-League to the Thai Premier League (TPL) back in November last year, although he denied rumours of an exit last month.
But the former Juventus and Italy legend has been linked with a move to newly-promoted TPL side PTT Rayong again, who are coached by Peter Withe.
With the speculation increasing, Goal caught up to Withe during an invitational tournament at Chonburi Stadium on Saturday to ask about Del Piero, but were met with an annoyed response from the Englishman.
"Del Piero? You sure you want to ask me about that?" he angrily retorted.
"Okay listen, now my friend is in Sydney. You know Sydney FC, right? Now my friend's there. So it's up to Mr. Del Piero whether he signs the deal or not.
"If he signs, he'll be here. If he's not, he'll stay at Sydney. That's it!"
Rayong have been bolstering their side ahead of the new 2014 season, having secured the services of Withe and then striker Rufino Sanchez recently. They are owned by the PTT Group, the wealthiest company in Thailand.
The TPL has seen two high-profile signings in the form of Jay Simpson to Buriram United and Jay Bothroyd to Muangthong United in pre-season, but a successful move for Del Piero would easily represent the biggest coup.
Del Piero, who has scored in every competition he has participated in, moved to the A-League in September 2012 after a 19-year spell at Juventus.
