Kept his place and was twice called into action early on by Schar and Streller but left stranded as Stocker opened the scoring and did little to stop Fabian Frei making it 2-0.
Survived an early injury scare but was booked for a foul on Streller and nearly allowed Stocker to make it 3-0 before half-time. Forced off before the end with Spurs having already made three changes.
Made a crucial tackle to deny Salah the chance to make it 3-0 after the restart but was part of a back four which failed to come to terms with Basel early on
Drilled a volley from 25 yards just wide but was almost caught short by the pace of Mohamed Salah in the first half. Hit as sweet a volley as you're likely to see but was denied by Sommer. Not the sort of display that the home fans have come to expect.
Beaten far too easily for pace by Salah, who was only denied by the woodwork and blundered to allow the midfielder a chance at goal he should have taken.
Tried to gather momentum for Spurs and made several decent passes but was not as instrumental as he would have liked to have been in a game largely dominated by Basel's midfield enterprise.
Lasted just 22 minutes and was rarely involved before limping off to be replaced by Sigurdsson.
Had the goal at his mercy and should have equalised in the first half but somehow missed unbelievably from close range. Booked for a foul on Salah.
Was involved in the melee that perhaps played a part in Parker's unbelievable miss and maybe should have scored himself. Flashed a shot wide before coming off for Dempsey.
Showed flashes of fancy footwork and side-footed wide in the first half but was unable to produce the talismanic, blockbuster performance to which Spurs fans have become so used.
Lucky to get a second bite of the cherry and put Spurs in front by directing Parker's effort in after a comical airshot. Otherwise largely anonymous as he struggled to carve openings or hold up the ball.
Beaten from six yards by the outstretched leg of Adebayor but denied Holtby before Parker's horror miss and made an incredible stop at full stretch to deny Naughton a goal to remember. Helpless as Sigurdsson's effort deflected beyond him.
The full-back was rarely troubled on the left hand side as Tottenham lacked width with Lennon limping off and Bale playing in a central position.
Played well alongside Schar as Tottenham were rarely allowed in behind the Basel back four.
Like Steinhofer, was given little to worry about on the flanks as Spurs attacked largely through the middle to no avail.
Unlucky to see Sigurdsson's shot deflect off him and beyond Sommer as Spurs equalised. Largely coped well with Adebayor.
Made no mistake with a header from a corner to put Basel two up. Booked for blocking Dembele early in the second half.
Notched his third goal of the Europa League campaign with a simple follow-up after Streller's effor struck the post.
Mohamed El Nenny
Combined well with Salah on ocasion after Sigurdsson shifted to Tottenham's left and proved an important figure in midfield for the visitors.
G. Serey Die
A combative display from the no-nonsense midfielder, who hurried Spurs until being replaced by Cabral.
Should have done better with an early chance from close range but shot straight at Friedel. Hit the post from close range after a clever turn but saw the rebound converted by Stocker. Replaced by Zoua in the final 20 minutes.
Volleyed over when unmarked inside the box in the opening stages. At the forefront of most of the visitors' productive play and had a hand in the opening goal but curled over with only Friedel to beat. Came off to well-earned applause from the visiting fans.
